Quote from: Jims5543 on November 08, 2024, 06:48:01 AMI have slowed down a lot. Last night I had 1 beer with dinner, I forgot I had these in the back of my beer fridge.

Dogfishhead 120 IPA Aged 5+ years in a glass Mudhen gave me.  Speaking of which, where TF is Mudhen?

I was amazed this was still good, I was told they get stronger as they age, not sure if that is true, you could tell you were drinking a 12% IPA that was for sure.

Cool fucking glass, though!   :great:

That redhead with the long hair is kinda cute......but then I have a thing for redheads....

She gave me her number actually.  That's not the best photo of her.  She was very attractive.

Nice to see you drunks are still at it!

I got into old fashioneds the last couple of years...trying to drink less beer because I look like a stick that swallowed a beach ball.  Trouble is after a couple old fashioneds I don't care what I look like and switch back to beers.  🤣

Had this last night in this special glass for Jim.

How you all been???  Well I hope!

Welcome Back Mudhen (Pat) and love that you are into old fashioned's my absolute favorite drink beyond IPA's.

The reason I am back is I purchased his 74 Cooper and figured since I own one again I may as well get back on here.

I am pleased to see you are still using my glass too. Still at the same address?  I may have some more swag for you.

If you have a Total Wine near you see if they have this in stock.

https://www.staugustinedistillery.com/mixers#oldfashioned

It is my favorite old fashioned mix.

See if they have this IPA as well, some dude was explaining to me at the corner beverage store why this 9% IPA is so damn smooth, I wish I remembered what he said. It had something to do with the way they brew it.  It comes out much smoother than a typical 9%IPA and I can attest they are easy to get in trouble with.

I am heading to total wine this week to see if I can find Main Beer Company there.

This is the IPA you are looking for.

Congrats on getting back into the Mini game!  I'll have to poke around on here and see which one that was, I don't recall it off hand.

Hope the fam is well!

Everyone is well, same to you, the kids must be all grown up by now.

I have tried to get my boys into Austocrossing, neither are really interested. The older one might one day, the younger has issues, he is very introverted, he does not like being in crowds. Not that AX is crowded. But it can get busy and he doesn't do well with that. He is build different, its amazing how 2 kids can be so different.

Sadly, I decided to take off from any consumption until Thanksgiving then I am back on the wagon until the end of the year and possibly through January. I have some fitness goals I want to achieve and drinking alcohol will just slow down my progress. I hate being on strict diets, I try to get what I am trying to accomplish over with as fast a possible.  LOL!  Typing that looks as dumb as it sounded in my head.

Good to see you poking around brother, hope you are still Rally Crossing and enjoying your cars.

Agreed - kids can be so different from one another even when you think you're bringing each of them up pretty much the same.  Our oldest is now a senior at SCAD in Atlanta - insane car guy (haven't yet gotten him to autox/rallyx, though).  He had 2 MG Midgets until recently...works at Way Motor Works part time (only about 10 miles from his dorm!).  Middle kid is a sophomore at WPI in Mass - hates cars.  Youngest is a freshman in HS, no matter what car we get in he says he loves it and wants it when I die.  :cheesy:

We have 12 Minis/MINIs now - 4 classics, 7 r53s, and 1 F-shitbox.  Two r53s are Liams, though - plus his midget and Nissan Pulsar GTI-R, and we have a couple Rovers (not cool ones, though)...we're overstocked - need a huge yard sale.

That old fashion mix is aaaaawweeeesome.  I'm not so great with math so I kept the 1:4 simple - 1 shot of the mix, 4 shots of the Bulleit Rye.  I tell you what, a few of those and I was all set.  :great:

My daughter graduated from SCAD, so did her husband! He's an architect and her degree was in painting...... I didn't realize SCAD had a campus in Atlanta......my kids were in Savannah.

I order a lot of parts from WMW for the wifes R53. Funny story Way kept calling me because he knew I owned the Mini Pickup that Dan bought from me. He was begging me to sell him the pickup. Obviously that never happened.

He has a great business model there, fast deliveries, lots of knowledge a lot of bespoke WMW parts he has developed.

My older son is a motorhead too, he has 3 cars now, a 2008 Subaru WRX STI with a Cobb tune and some bolt on upgrades, it  put 310hp to all 4 wheels. I have driven it a couple of times it is a blast.

He also has a E30 318is with a S52 (E36 M3) engine swapped in.  He recently purchased a 2013 BMW X5d that we spent a weekend doing a alphabet delete on and a stage 1 tune. IIRC its now making 375hp and 650tq he had to get the transmission serviced after the tune, it was pissing it off. That thing is a monster now, its so freaking fast it does not make sense, sort of like my M5, something that big and heavy should not be that fast.

I also had no idea SCAD had campuses in Atlanta, I thought they only had campuses in Savanna. One of my older sons private school classmates went to the Savannah campus.

Please you like that Old Fashioned Mix, it is one of my favorites, kind of expensive but worth it. To offset the cost, look for Rittenhouse Rye to mix with its about $25-$30 a bottle and makes a really good old fashioned.

Come to cellar, my regular spot. The bar tender filling in who doesn't really know me comes up and addressed me as "captain" and said would you like to take these home with you. I took them home.

Its all the rage with the kids now.

Truly / White Claw / High Noon / Svedka  are the same.

Then I have seen clever names like Ranch Water.

Nice score Captain Dan.

Had to meet up with my son to switch cars with him 'somewhere half way between school and home' - how about Target in Burlington, MA?  Ok, sounds good.  Holy shit, look what else is in the parking lot!   :cheesy:

Wow, what a place...massive craft beer selection at reasonable prices (for craft beer, anyway).  And no, I'm not the old guy leaving with the carriage.

 :great:

Total wine does have a great selection. I like German style beers, doppelbocks, maibocks, kolsch, dunkel, etc... and it's one of the few places I can find such things. Of course I have to drive all the way to KC to get to one but when I do I stock up so i generally look like I'm an alcoholic wheeling out my cart full of booze.

Jims5543

Total wine, I remember when our local one was opening up, I did not know what it was, I was surveying a property near where they were remodeling a Circuit City to be a Total wine and asked a construction worker what was going in there. I looked at him confused, I said a giant wine store? He said, no, its a Liquor Wal-mart for drunks.

After going in there for the first time, I felt that was a very accurate description.

I had a few cool beers in Georgia this past weekend, it was my last hurrah before going completely dry for a while.

There is a town in North Georgia called Helen, its a German influenced village that looks like it was pickedup out of Germany and dropped in Georgia.

We went to a German Restaurant (of course!) I grabbed a Erdinger Dunkle while there.

Found this beer while out offered in a local gastro pub.  Brewed in Jekyll Island.

Helen was a madhouse, we were supposed to head to the town of Blue Ridge the next day, we decided not to and just find smaller towns and visit them.

In one town we found this distillery, I grabbed a couple of bottles of shine from there after tasting about 8 different types.

They had 120 prrof it was just too harsh the 80 was very palatable.

Also found this in the local Ingles Grocery Store.

and now Jimmy is boring as I am on a health kick now and want to take at least a month off from the juice.
