My youngest son (23) has taken up making his own beer. His first attempt he made a "summer shandy" kind of beer, its a "citrusy" brew very similar to Leinenkugel's summer shandy, a Hefeweizen and a Belgian blond. I have to say he did pretty darn good for his first attempt even though some of the summer shandy's didn't carbonate very well in the bottle, the ones that did are pretty darn good. His Hefeweizen is the one I liked best. He's already ordered some small 2gal kegs and the various c02 accoutrements to bypass the bottling inconsistencies he experienced.

Thankfully its not near as strong as the mead he made last year, the problem with it was, it was so good and so smooth and bottled in beer bottles, one bottle of it would knock you on your ass when you drank it like a beer lol.

Schooner Wharf, Hogs Breath after which things get vague - what's the name of that topless bar on the third floor over Ricks? I am so old I remember when sunset key was called Tank Island and even had tanks on it. - things have gotten so Gucci over the years.

I do not think that place over Ricks exists anymore. It is now an extension of Ricks with live music.

Next door to Ricks in the Red Garter which I thought was just a bar, turns out it is a Strip club.

There is a strip club called Teasers near The Bull and of course on the 3rd floor over The Bull is the nude bar, IIRC it was called Garden of Eden.  Never been to any of them to be honest, not my scene.

I prefer a good live music venue, we spent the evening we were there in Willie T's which is a decent walk up Duval from Sloppy Joes and Hogs Breath. They had some guy in there who was really good, we sat and listened to him for close to 3 hours.  Fun fact, I have never been in Sloppy Joes or Hogs Breath. 

I don't know when the last time you were there was a lot has changed in the last several years.

Between Hurricane Irma in 2017 and Covid a lot of great little places closed down.   The good news is Planet Hollywood and Hard Rock Cafe also pulled stakes and left.  I greatly disliked them being there, I prefer little locally owned places. We ate lunch at Schooners years ago. We try to find places off Duval and away from the waterfront.

Sunset Key is now a resort, it is an extension of the one we stayed at. We stayed in the Opel Key Resort right on Mallory Square.

Bull always seemed to have great no nonsense music... I was thinking of the Garden of Eden- it really is low key and local -not really a strip club- just clothing optional in a key west sort of way. Fun to overlook the Duval shuffle from on high.  Sloppy Joes has always been too touristy. El Siboney for lunch, Blue Heaven or Pier House for brunch, Two Friends always reliable. Sailed down 10 times or so over the years- both casually and racing -  Always a race from Clearwater/Sarasota/Naples in May. So I tend to know the Bight area better. Key West is great once every few years. Been 5 years I guess since I have made that run. Kinda messed up now that the cruise ships come in (and they are a really big and annoying wind shadow when you need to tack up the channel to finish). Need to put that back on the calendar.

The cruise ships... LOL don't get me started. At least they are only there for about 5-8 hours and gone by evening.

If you know KW, you can look at the Irish Kevin's  cam and tell when a cruise ship is at port.
You can also tell when there is a Carnival Ship in port. LOL! We were relieved to see it was a Virgin Cruise in Port while we first got there. Then an X Celebrity ship on Saturday. Yeah, you can tell when a couple thousand people pour into the place all at once.

Before Irma we LOVED 2 Cent which was down on Appelrouth between Duval and Whitehead, next door to Leather Master which I have posed in front of a few times for my wife to post on SM and get good laughs.  Some day I am going to have to go in there. LOL!!

Irma took out 2 Cent, we loved the place, late in the evening all the charter boat hands would start showing up, they had a corner for them to all throw their dufflebags into. Met a lot of really cool people there.  That was where I first experience the dice roll for your drinks price gimmick. If you rolled a 1, the drinks were $1, $2 for a 2 and 1/2 off for a 3, 4-6 is full price.

The entire place was under a huge oak tree, Irma knocked down the oak into the building, now its a vacant lot.

The Porch was on Caroline Street almost across from the Bull in a Victorian Style house. They had Dogfishhead 90 Minute IPA on tap there which I had never seen anywhere before.  They served it in a full pint glass too, not a wimpy little sifter.   Still have a tshirt from there and some coozies.

The Porch closed after Covid, the landlord doubled the rent on the space, the owner of the Porch was the same owner of 2 Cent.

The bartenders would work shifts between the 2 places. They now work at General Horseplay, I am not sure if that is owned by the same person though, it opened as the other 2 closed.

We liked to go to Hanks Bar and grab food from Garbo's grill before DDD found them and made them famous. Now its a madhouse over there.

Another fun place, which we have not done in years, is Better than Sex desert restaurant. We normally go there for romantic special occasions. One year we were there for our anniversary they put us in a dark corner and wrote congrats messages on our plates in frosting.

We still want to hit up the La Te Da for drinks one of these times. Its a fun place, to visit, we have been all over the island and always find something new every time we are there.
