Tried this stuff over the weekend. 67%.  Wouldn't really call it beer lol.

That is one stout "beer". So how did it taste?

Race fuel?  Lol.  Ever clear like perhaps with a hint of beer.  My chest was warm for 15 minutes afterwards.

My experience of the super strength beers, they are often terrible!  There was a bit of an unofficial competition by brewers in the UK to make the strongest beer and it was just unpleasant. My friend described on as "it was like drinking a stock concentrate of beer".

Nice, so it would at least make a decent winter warming drink if nothing else. I guess I would have to look up what officially defines a "beer" but this certainly seems to fall outside of what I would consider a beer. Always fun to at least try new things.....well not always

Doom Bar and Abbot's are favorites of mine from the homeland.

Time to bring this to the top.  I've been insanely busy this week and decided a Friday afternoon beer or 6-12 are needed.

Same here Dan, stupid busy here these last few weeks, I started taking on a lot of off the street customers that have all made my life hell.

I just killed off a 12 pack of Coors light over the last week.

We invited some friends to join us while we were speculating real estate investments in Palatka Florida a couple of months ago. The husband gifted me this whiskey, I am typically not a fan of Japanese Whiskey, this was an exception. The Japanese tend to create Whiskeys that are more like heavily peated Scotch.  That was not the case with this one. It was very smooth.  The presentation of the box and bottle are remarkable.

Downtown Tulsa for lunch.

Jims5543

Is Prairie Brewery still in downtown?  I liked that place a lot.

Prairie is still in business but the location is now Cabin Boys Brewery as pictured above. Just got back from walking there for lunch and a couple beers.

Spent the week in Bulgaria. A local beer.

Being a Land Surveyor, when I learned of this Benchmark Whiskey, I knew I had to try it. I ordered a couple of bottles, since its a relative of Buffalo Trace, I figured it would be decent even if it was really cheap ($25) it is OK, nothing to get excited about, it is now my mixer whiskey when I want a mixed drink.

QuoteIn 1773, three McAfee Brothers named James, George and Robert left Virginia westward to explore the uncharted territory that would later become known as Kentucky. Traveling by canoe at first, the McAfee Company eventually followed a native trail overland that led to the great buffalo crossing, where the brothers surveyed the land now home to the world's most award-winning distillery – Buffalo Trace Distillery. The surveyor marks left behind are known as benchmarks and this bourbon whiskey honors the pioneering spirits of these early American explorers.

We have a hurricane bearing down on the West coast of Florida, I am still not sure how it will impact me on the east coast. We decided to just do a once over today, make sure all our stuff is in place, we needed eggs and a few other small items. We knew better than to go to a regular grocery store or Costco. We went to a small place called Sprouts, its like a Fresh Market, both are smaller versions of Whole foods.

I saw this cool IPA on the shelves, remembered tasting it and liking it at a beer event where there were 70 breweries. So I grabbed a 6er, tomorrow I am stocking up, we expect Wednesday / Thursday to be bad here. Tomorrow I decide how much I am doing to prepare for this as far as hardening up the house and office.

This is a very smooth IPA, really enjoyed it.
