cold soaked is right, that's why it takes so long to get mine to a workable temp when it's 10* out or below.....it's also why I wait for mother nature to help a bit before I bother running the heater. At single digits it just will get there......eventually. But my feet are so cold that I can only work about an hour before I have to go warm up again

Windy.  60mph winds.  So Windy it was dangerous to drive.  The winds were calm this morning when I went to the shop and then got out of control. I of course drove the bus, which is a barn door to begin with. I took the slow way home and what normally takes 30 minutes took about an hour. There was a tree down across the road at one point people were pushing out of the way as I was pulling up to the traffic jam. A car hauler was tipped over at another section.

MiniDave

yeah, blowing like crazy up here, sections of I-70 in western Kansas and I-40 going south from Colby to Sharon Springs is closed too. Multiple wrecks and trucks on their sides.....

It brought a big tree branch down in my neighbor's yard that's been hanging by a thread for 5 years now. I'm glad it's finally down!

We had a huge T storm blow thru, high winds, 1/4-1/2" hail and when it let up I could see our neighbor's tree down blocking the road, and another neighbor with a huge couple of branches that hit their roof. A friend came by to pick up a Mini part just as it was tapering off and he said the whole neighborhood had trees down blocking the streets and in yards.

I dug out my old chain saw that hadn't been used in a few years, got some new gas in it, filled the oil for the bar and it fired up, me and another neighbor did the saw work and about 10 others came around and drug the debris off as we cut it. Only took a couple of hours to clear 6 yards and the street. These trees are all about 50-60 years old or more and huge, so when one breaks it's a big mess.

We were lucky we didn't lose power but a couple blocks over they're running gensets, probably a branch took down a line somewhere.

Neighbor's tree after we cut it up and dragged it to the curb....

Miserable to unbearable. I hate the peak Oklahoma summer heat.  We've been riding bikes early in the morning or after the sun sets.

Yep.....in a word .....HOT!

We should get some relief Thursday when some rain comes thru.....that's been the good news/bad news for this summer. The rain is keeping the trees and grass alive but it keeps the humidity way up there too.....we've had a storm blow thru about every 4-5 days, and one day we got 5" of rain, the north parts of the city got 10!

Can't wait to see July and August's electric bills.....

At least the new hvac the condos installed work this summer.

Hot up here in the Great White North too. 32 C degrees today. That's hot for us. Humid (for us) too. Living up here, our blood is thicker and we feel it more. Can't imagine what you guys are going through. Yesterday I tried levelling up a few of the 18" concrete patio slabs that form our back walk. Got one done before the heat got to me. Only about 40 more to go and winter is never far away. Got to level them up as the snowblower tends to catch on them.  :039:

In my truck earlier today running errands.

MiniDave

it hasn't been any cooler here (well, mid -90's or 35-36), plus we have been suffering thru high humidity too, the outsides of our windows are completely covered with condensation....

Today and tomorrow are still in the 100s.  Then a few days of 80s before creeping into the low 90s. Maybe I'll drive the mini this weekend 🤔

MiniDave

Same weather here......we're supposed to drop back onto the mid 70's on Thursday (supposed to rain again) then slowly back up to the mid 90's again. 104 today they say......

I've got to get one of the Audis over to Styer's shop and up on the lift this weekend before the temps climb too high again. I found a broken wire (right at the damn clip) that's all green on the end from corrosion, I have to fix that, change the oil and clean out the sunroof drains. There's no A/C in his shop so I have to get it done before it heats up again.

I ordered one of those sets of clip removing tools that should be here today - 80 tools for $20 shipped! I expect them to be fairly low quality but they don't have to be made out of titanium to do what I need them for. Now I just have to figure out which one will release this clip!

It's snowing......first one of the season for us, 2" or so down right now but they're expecting 4" or more. My brother in St. Louis got 6" 2 days ago, strange how this storm is moving - more east to southwest. They usually hit us from the northwest and go east.....like from Colorado and Wyoming, across the plains and then thru here.

We're as ready as we can be......bird feeder is full, heater in the birdbath, Genset is full of fuel and the battery is charged.....although dragging it from the shed to the back door of the shop where I can hook up the cable is a slug when there's a lot of snow down, and getting it back up the hill again is nearly impossible, so I just bring it in the man door and leave it there till the snow melts and things dry out a bit.

Both cars have good tires and are full of gas, I don't know what else we could do. With two Allroads we can get around pretty well when the bad stuff hits.

Don just got a new set of Blizzaks on his winter car - his '06 JCW. The old ones still had plenty of tread but were 13 years old! He said the main difference he can feel is the new ones ride so much better - I'm guessing the age had stiffened the rubber and sidewalls?

We got some flurries here this morning that weren't forecast.  I of course drove the rx7 home yesterday after giving it a little detail inside the shop.

Natch! Perfect snow car, huh?

Rear wheel drive car that breaks the race tires loose at the top of 3rd gear...not ideal on wet slick roads when it's snowing.

Snowed a little here y'day. Maybe an inch + freezing rain.  (snowing again now, too)_

Just bought a new car. 2026 Crosstrek AWD. Much better than the BINI in the snow.

30 minutes in a Mini is more therapeutic than 3 sessions at the shrink.

I spent Thanksgiving in southern Wisconsin and it was a bit different than I've become used to in Texas. Twelve inches of snow yesterday and 6° this morning. Flying back home today and I can't wait for the change in weather!

my niece went to college at Lawrence in Appleton.....she said it def snowed there!

We got about 4 inches of snow, but the sun is really melting it now.  I scraped the driveway this morning and it's completely clear now and it's 34* so it should keep going, but the patio in back that doesn't get as much sunshine will melt and refreeze tonight. Even with 4 paw drive the boys may be slipping and sliding around trying to get to the yard......
