Has anyone else noticed the site is loading much slower than normal lately?

I do not get any errors, but it can take up to 20 seconds for a page to load.

Loading normal for me. And I'm out of the country on questionable wifi and limited 4g.

MiniDave

Yes......oh so sllloooowwwwwww........

I click on the link to the site and open another browser tab and go do other things while I wait for it to load, then each page is equally slow - mind you I'm on my laptop, not a phone - so maybe the issue is there?

Well it's instantly fast on my end, laptop and phone. I went ahead and optimized the forum database just for the heck of it, as I do occasionally, but otherwise it's probably something on your end.  Or Korea just has really good internet.

Clear your cache and cookies on your devices and see if that helps.

Pretty slow here too, took nearly 20 seconds from the time I hit reply button to the window popping up. Everywhere else I have gone seems to be working ok, speedtest says I am running about 280Mbps on wireless, which is a tad slow for me but certainly not slow by internet standards.

MPlayle

I am on a Macbook-Pro laptop.  I use Firefox browser and have it set to clear cookies and Cache every time I close the browser.

I can start fresh and it will be slow to navigate anywhere on this site.  All other sites load at normally expected speeds.

The last few days it has been much slower than normal for this site - still is even now.

skmini

Slow for me too, at home on the wired connection or on the phone.  Ping'ing restorationmini.com is reasonable, but for some reason the site takes forever to load.

Has this been going on for awhile?  Because I can't figure out why it's fast for me but slow for you all.

MPlayle

It has been slow for a long time, but lately has gotten even slower.

It had been about 10 seconds to load a page, but now is more like 20-30 seconds for most page transition.  Loggin in can take up to 1 minute to respond.

I just ran a connectio speed test and get 200.0 Mbps download and 11.4 Mbps upload.  I do multiple Skype conferences per week and have no issues with that or any other websites.

Is there any IP address filtering/blocking turned on that may be slowing down access?  Maybe your IP or provider address is white-listed and going right through and the rest of us are getting scanned/filtered?

What's a long time?  A week, month, year?

The other thing with the ip address being a cause is I use different ones literally all around the world and in all 50 states, yet no slowing for me.  I can get the pages to load pretty good even when I'm limited to 2g speeds.

Like Michael, it has been slow for me for some time.

I ran a performance test (there are a bunch of free ones on the internet) and it looks like it is no one thing.

https://www.webpagetest.org/result/221110_AiDcEK_FCG/

The main issue I can see from that report is the number of external references that delay the rendering of the site.  That maybe because they are old links or there is a performance limitation applied to that external link. For some of these it is taking 20 seconds from the request until the first byte is received. Which is the vast majority of the delay.

Hope that helps.

Just refreshed everyone's themes.  See if that works.

30 minutes in a Mini is more therapeutic than 3 sessions at the shrink.

All the SLOW people, what are you using?   I saw a few Apple products mentioned by some.  All of my internet connectivity has been slow lately.   Not just this page.  For both my phone and iMac Pro.   Crazy thing is when i do a speed test it registers as 300+ mps.  Which for browsing should be lightning fast.

I'm using a droid and my laptop is windows 11 with chrome.  Instantaneous opening for me.  I ran that speed test and got the 20 second hit thing too and noted the themes potential issue in the notes it gave.  I can call godaddy at some point but I'm pretty busy the next couple days.  I reset everyone's themes in an attempt before I take off out of here.

For me, the forum site has been slow since the last round of "502" errors back in May or June.  It was tolerable and I figured it was related to whatever fixed the "502" errors when trying to log in.

This week it has been even slower than normal.

I have always been using Firefox as my browser (and I keep it updated).  For the forum, I have always left it on the default themes.

94touring

That's what I was wondering if it was related to the 502 error thing we had awhile ago.

MPlayle

I just tried with Safari as my backup browser and it is just as slow.

MiniDave

I run Win 11 with Edge, I also run Firefox, it's no quicker on either.....just fYI

Just for fun, but I'm not sure if it helps or what you can do with the information, I opened up the Developer Tools in Chrome and took a look at the Network tab that provides some information on what's taking time.  DNS query takes no time, establishing the connection to the website takes no time, but it takes 22 seconds for the site to respond with the first file.  Actually downloading that file takes no time.

The first file is generated by index.php; it's almost like the forum itself is running really slowly, but I'm not sure why it's fast for you but really slow for the rest of us.  What happens if you load the site when you're not logged into it?

Other files (editor.css, editor.js?fin20) get a response much faster, but they aren't generated by index.php.

Ok so just landed in Anchorage, 5g on my phone, logged out, and still fast as shit for me.

dantest

Registered as a new user and using my laptop on the hotel wifi.  Still loads in a millisecond for me.

Ok I updated some stuff and uninstalled all forum addon's and mods.  Now I need your feedback if it's fast or slow.
