Just now sitting in my office and a helicopter flies over. Then over again and again and again.

I walk up front to see WTF is going on and this is going on in front of my office.

Guns drawn, making the passengers in the car walk backwards to them.  Frisked then they were placed in the squad cars then their vert BMW was searched.

After about 20 minutes, they let the couple go and disperse. WTF, did I just watch?

Jim, a bunch of years ago I came out of an early session at the gym and noticed several cop cars parked around the place, some a block away some closer. I walked out to my white 914 and just as I sat down a police car roared up, lights ablaze. I got back out and he yelled for me to not move.....after about 2 minutes he got out of his car and walked up asking for my DL, ins and reg which I gave over to him. He went back to his car and "ran" me and after about 5 more minutes came out and asked where I was the night before - I told him home and so on. By then three or four more cop cars had pulled up and they all went into conference

5 more minutes and he handed me back my stuff and now was considerably more relaxed. I asked what was going on and he said there had been a drive-by shooting, the suspect was seen in a white 914, so they were just checking to be sure - however, the suspect they were after was black, and the car would have had several bullet holes - and as neither I or my car matched THAT, I was free to go.

It was a fairly harrowing experience even tho I wasn't handcuffed or thrown in the back of a squad car like they seem to do today.....

Only point being, mis-identification happens, and in today's world they just can't be too careful.

It was just surreal seeing this unfold in front of my office. I never thought to look over at the daycare across the road from me and see if they locked the place down, looking back, I do not think they even locked down. Crazy!

Something very similar to my older son. He had a Black E30 BMW at the time. He was driving down the road when a police care lit him up and pulled him over, same deal as above, get out of the the car, walk backwards, handcuffs in the squad car etc..

He was just turned 18 at the time.

They called me to explain they had my son, then started asking weird questions, I started to get pissed off and asked if I needed to hang up on them and get my lawyer down there. Then the cops tone changed with me from accusative to more friendly, then he explained to me that there had been a drive by shooting by a black BMW, when they searched his car, there was a box of 12ga shells in his trunk which upset the police.

I asked if they knew what was used in the drive by, they said some sort of 40mm handgun based on the holes in the house and casings in the street, I then told them we were at the range a few days ago and probably forgot to take the box of shells out of the car. Then I asked why they think 12ga shells would be a problem when they are looking for 40mm bullets.  He agreed, he was just surprised to find the shells in the trunk hence his call to me to verify my sons story, which I did.

In his early days driving he has had his car searched 3X.  One time a drug sniffing dog "training" in the HS parking lot marked his car, prompting the police to pull my son out of class and open up his car.  He went on to show them places where drugs could be hidden in the car that they missed. LOL!! The School resource officer called me to tell me what was going on and then told me that part too laughing.

He also got pulled over and searched another time driving home late at night one night when he was in HS.  We used to call him The Iceman like Kimi was called because my older son is very subdued and chill. When he purchased his first car from a friend (his first of 3 E30's he has owned) the friend mentioned to another friend that my son did not seem excited. The other friend was closer to my family and knew my sons well. He asked the other guy if my son smiled, he said yes, the other friend informed him then he was very happy. LOL!! They decided to call him the Iceman.

We had a Euro plate made for the front of his BMW "Iceman" we had no idea this is also a nickname for people who deal Meth. After he got pulled over that night, he took the tag off the front of the car, I noticed it was gone and asked why, he explained he thought it was getting bad attention from LEO. He was probably right.

I have been profiled too.  I went over to this ladies house in my E30 to scan her daughters car that was running bad and going into limp mode. She lives in a kind of sketchy part of town, I noticed a cop sitting under a tree as I was driving in to the neighborhood, never gave it another thought.

On my way out, like an idiot, I rolled a stop sign right in front of him forgetting he was there. He followed me for a bit then lit me up.

I pulled over and he told me what I did wrong, then asked for the usual.  I pulled out my license, handed it to him and put my wallet on my thigh.  The cop looked down at my wallet and busted out laughing when he saw my my McLovin ID peeking out of my wallet. He said, "Let me see that, I gave it to him, he laughed even more, then asked where I got it. I told him Ebay, he handed that and my license back to me and told me to make sure I stop for stop signs.

I was not the droid he was looking for, he was fishing for bad guys. My cousin is a local cop, we had an argument at a family picnic years ago, I had the opinion that speed traps are BS. The little township he polices is notorious for having speed traps set up.

He told me he lets 90% of the people go with a verbal warning, there are about 5% that get tickets because they were not just speeding they were flying.

The other 5%? He said the have warrants for their arrest and in many cases they are bad news. THAT is why he runs speed traps to find and get bad people off the street. Seems people with warrants are not exactly Mensa, they are stupid enough to drive like idiots knowing getting pulled over will land them in jail.

Real quick, I see we both use the same style wallet.  I got tired of sitting on 2 inches of wallet on an already bad back. This stays in my front pocket. Also keeps from getting pick pocketed in certain countries.

Jims5543

I switched to front pocket a long long time ago like over 15 years ago.

That wallet is my favorite, it is my second one from the same company, the first one lasted 10 years, this one is 5 years old, and I have another in a drawer at home just in case I need to replace this one. LOL! I kind of like them.

This is the money clip one I use.

Another funny profiling story. We moved to West Palm Beach in the early 90's.  We had this hideous Ford Probe that we purchased to get out from under a lemon used car we were upside down in.

This Probe had no mufflers and would set off car alarms when you drove down the road.

One weekend afternoon we decided to drive over the bridge to Palm Beach and look at the huge mansions as we drove along. The second we crossed the bridge into Palm Beach a police car pulled off the side of the road and followed us the entire time we were on the island, never pulled us over, just followed us. It stopped the moment we crossed back over into West Palm Beach.

When you are so wealthy you decide to rip out your perfectly fine pool and have a new one built.

This is Harbour Ridge Golf Community, you may have heard of it, whenever Obama came to Florida to play golf with Tiger, this was the golf community he would come to to play.

Its on another level in here, this is another community where you have to put a substantial deposit into a HOA Trust before you can apply to buy a home in this community. Many of the homes are second homes, this house I was surveying was shuttered up for the summer.

I was there to generate a survey so they can demolish this pool and put a new one in this summer.  The extra pictures are of a hiking trail behind the property along the water. They have their own community nature trail.
