So originally I thought I had no spark. I followed your suggestions and discovered I did indeed have spark, I just wasn't patient enough with the fuel pump. I couldn't see spark but the volt meter said otherwise as well as the car when it attempted to start.
Now I can't get my starter to turn over. Full battery, but nothing except clicks for the starter, even with jumper cables.
My guess is the starter is bad as I believe it was going bad before because if the engine would fire but nothing except clicks stay running the you could hear the starter continue to spin.
I have searched the forum and I still have a question.
Is there a starter that I can put in out of another vehicle. I looked at the parts swap post and noticed Ford starters mentioned. Any particular one.
How do I know if I have a pre-engaged starter or not?

Before you go and buy a new one, take that one out and clean it up and lube the bendix.  They on occasion will stick from being dirty or gunked with dry grease.  It will be easy to determine which type you have then too.

If you take a pic of it we can tell you what kind you have. Also, if there is a solenoid mounted on the starter itself, that is a pre-engaged vs inertial that has the solenoid mounted on the inner fender.

Both pre-engaged and inertial are available from Mini Spares brandy new for £64, but by the time you factor in conversion to $$$ and the 25% tariff (this week) you're still only talking $100 plus shipping.

I don't know of a Ford starter that will interchange, but I think there is an Isuzu one that does and it's pretty reasonable.....lemme check.

Edit: The Isuzu starter won't work, the bolt pattern is wrong.....it  will fit a Sprite/Midget

My solenoid is mounted in the inner fender. I know this because I purchased one for a Mustang to replace my bad one years ago.
I will pull the starter tomorrow, clean it up, line the bender, and see if I can get it working again.

Inertia starter then. Pre engaged has the solenoid on the starter.

Also, clean the ground strap connections in the boot and under the hood. Make sure where it bolts to the body in both places is clean and paint/rust free.
