Died no spark, not a mini

I am working on a neighbors 1967 Austin Healey 3000. Been parked for about 8 years. Leaving the gas station and it just died. No sputter, just quit. Back home. No spark. Power to coil, spark from the coil. Been reading about the lack of quality of new parts. Took a VERY close look at the rotor that has maybe 50 miles on it. There is a tiny carbon burn trail from the bottom of the rivet thru the rotor to the metal tab on the inside. Thus shorting to the dist drive. That is where the spark is going. I had to get my light with a magnifier on it see the arc spot and was really looking for it. This is the failed new part.

I've had that happen on new parts 50 years ago, so it's nothing new or due to Chineseum parts.....

Can't tell, but some (most?) have a resistor built in, was that where the resistor was?

No resistor, just burned plastic that is not up to the job.
