I just paid $188 to get my Newton Commercial order released. Is this where we're headed?
I've never paid an additional import duty on any orders from overseas.
I believe it always was combined with the freight quote.

If your total order value was greater than $800, then you were likely hit with the additional costs of tariffs which would not have been in any shipping quote.

Tariffs are a tax on the back end of the import process paid by the importer (you in this case).

Total for the goods was $715, freight was $240 so unless they added the freight to value then no, it was less than $800.

I don't know if the $800 limit includes shipping cost or not.  I deleted the email that might have had a link that clarified that point.

For some reason, I suspect in the current environment it is being enforced as "including shipping cost" in computing the value to tax & tariff.

The one article I did keep bookmarked that indicates classic cars (over 25 years old) will be exempt from the additional car tariffs indicates parts tariffs are not supposed to start until May, but who knows for certain these days.

With all the different tariff classifications (car specific, parts specific, general/all-product, etc.) and how they add up, it is hard to keep up with what the total taxing actually is.

I guess it's as the old saying goes "If you wanna dance you gotta pay the fiddler" I'll just be happy if they don't get stuck in customs or worse yet sent back.

I just had stuff shipped without any added fees. I've had to fork out money to UPS a nunber of times to get things released. For an absurd amount too.
