I am looking to replace my existing JVC in-dash stereo unit with one that has Bluetooth capabilities, and which fit into the existing opening without any modifications to the dash.

If you have suggestions to share along with a photo, please chime in.

Is Crutchfield still in business? They used to be the go-to place to compare/contrast car stereo stuff....

Edit: yes, they are still around!

Yeah, the old stand-by. I was hoping to get some feedback from Mini owners before going that route.

I didn't even bother with music in my car....can't hear it anyway!

In my other three LBC's I have SU and  exhaust noise as the musical source.

This May, I'll be driving the '98 Sportspack from Virginia Beach to upstate New York to participate in the six day long Freedom Road Rally.

Then we're off to the Carlisle (PA.) Import & Performance Nationals.

From there we'll move down to Summit Point WV to attend the Jefferson 500 vintage races, before returning home in southeast VA.

So yeah, with 10 days on the road, THIS is the reason I want Bluetooth capabilities, for music and GPS navigation.

This will be the first time I'll be using a stereo in any one of my LBC's.

I end up wearing my ear buds in the minis. But, I'd think any standard size stereo will slide right in.

Scargo

I'm sure ear buds work well but I will have a co-driver / navigator along for the ride the entire time, so I cannot shut him out.

If you've currently got a single DIN head unit, any single DIN replacement should be an easy fit. There are even touch screen Apple and Android units that fit a single DIN opening. I really like the looks of the Pioneer one with a retractable screen. (At Crutchfield of course) But the real job might be upgrading your speakers to make use of more power and better sound from the new head unit.

MiniDave

Good point on the speakers.....

That's one heck of a trip in a Mini, although the late model cars were a ton quieter than the early ones!
