Sold!

I built this tow bar for Susan, but she never used it as she was scared to tow her Mini, she just drove it instead!

So she's asked me to sell it for her as she's relocated to Florida and is clearing out her garage to get the house ready to sell.

It's the twin to the one I use on my car that has towed my Racing Green all over the country with no issues. It's very similar to the one Dan posted about here on the forum, except I weld mine all solid - I also use 1/2" bolts to attach the bar to the car.

The A-Frame is also brand new - Harbor Freight ($90 today) and includes the extra safety chains ($18 pair) already shortened to fit a classic Mini.

The whole thing is ready to bolt on and use. She'll take $150 for everything OBO.....

The success or not of towing depends on the tow vehicle. If you use something with a big overhang behind the rear wheels (like my brother's RoadTrek motorhome, for example) the rear end swings out in turns and sort of drags the Mini behind. It's not pleasant. Something with little overhang (like the Ford Windstar I once had) works fine.

That's a good point. I tow with my 2009 Clubman S, pulls it easily and gets as much as 27mpg doing it!
