Build an engine or leave in pieces

I have almost all the parts for a complete spare engine. Awhile back there was a post on another forum about how it was best to leave an engine in pieces instead of having it built up. I cannot find the old post at this point, but wondered what people's opinion are.

It depends.....many times the spec you chose might not be the one the buyer wants, also you're asking them to take it on faith that you know what you're doing.

If the buyer agrees to the spec and to your building it out, go for it. But if you're building it on spec - I wouldn't.

Just my 2 cents and worth every bit of what you paid for it!

It is for me. With fewer people available for rebuild, even if they were half way across the country, having one on hand seemed to make sense. But if there are issues with it just sitting until needed, I will leave it in pieces.
