Saw your battery setup in your other post and have been considering it.  I did major weight reduction on my mini build and had a 12lb race battery which died 6 months later.  My favorite reduction were the kad alloy rear swivel arms and disc brakes.  Also converted my heavy mk3 doors to sliders, gutting them out, adding alloy skins, and did polycarbonate on all the windows except the front glass.  Tons of other little things too but end results is the car feels different than your average mini.

I've been eyeing MED's alloy swing arms lately myself. I'm at 1380 lbs. with a full cage and a modest amount of Dynamat. Mine's essentially a street car, so I don't want to loose too many creature comforts.

So, did you go back to a full-size battery? If you're still running a lightweight, you might consider putting it on a smart charger when not in use. I'll bet you'll get at least a couple of years out of it.

I went back to a smallish regular sized battery.  I kept all my interior but ditched as much non essential items as possible.  It was something like 175lbs reduction by getting creative and spending some money on things like kad arms.
