Paint Thickness Meters

Anyone have any experience with these? Have a recommendation of a brand to buy?

I have a friend who keeps buying LBC's without thoroughly checking them out, I'm trying to teach him what to look for before he buys.

I've looked at a few online, seems like they run just over $100 or so....although there is one that's magnetic only for like $20. Seems to me you want one of the digital ones tho.....
