YouTube can be a vast wasteland of total crap, but once in a while something special can be found.

This guy just has incredible skill and craftsmanship.  Yes, he is spending his time restoring something that could easily be replaced by just buying a new one for $15 at Harbor Freight, but that is not the point at all.  It is fascinating watching him work with care, solve problems, and build needed new components from scratch. When guys like him pass on, there won't be anyone following them with the same type of know-how and skill.  He also has similar videos restoring other old items.

Added bonus: no techno-pop music soundtrack!

The finished product was stunning.

Quite a talent indeed!

I had it running off to the side while I am drafting.

Yeah, I think my jaw dropped when he scanned the old dial face, then built and silkscreened a new one.  Or when he constructed the little brass screws that secure the bezel from round stock.

30 minutes in a Mini is more therapeutic than 3 sessions at the shrink.

As I watched the first couple of minutes I thought to myself, there's no way in holy hell that I'll be able to get through all 23 minutes of this video. Oh how wrong I was. The more I watched, the further drawn in I became ... Superb !

That's incredible.  Was surprised when the pieces cleaned up and came out brass  :-\

Good news for the when people like this are gone the skill is gone.  From the look of his hands he's a fairly young guy.  I'd peg him in his 30's cause my 40 yr. old hands look rougher and they've led a fairly easy life.
I am the GR8KORNHOLIO! Are you threatening me?
