how many people on here is running fuel injection?

right now my car has a bone stock 1995 honda del sol d16z6 automatic

127hp and 107tq, only upgrades are 2inch exhaust pipe and a cherry bomb and a intake filter set up

my old set up was a d16z6 with p&p head, bigger pistons, bisimoto cam, bigger valves in the head, itb's, hondata s300, arp bolts, close ratio 5 speed manual with upgraded clutch and lsd, and i ran 2.5 inche exhaust pipe on it

heres a picture of upgraded injectors and adapters, stock honda 410cc injectors and obd1 to obd2 wiring adapters

I know there are a few. I have the SC 5-port system on a car. I also have a Microsquirt system that I have never installed as I ran into a few issues.

Just got my Specialist Components 5 port EFI mocked up on the new engine. Can't wait to get home and give it a shot.

There are about 7 or 8 people with various SC setups in the greater SF Bay Area. I was going to email them that I had asked Dan about setting this up, but he was so quick I have not yet done so. There are people with everything from a 7-port setup, twinkie setups and a replacement SPi ECU. Hopefully I can encourage them to contribute.

The newer Delta ECUs from SC appear to have a better interface in SXTune that may be easier to modify than the Typhoon.

That's what the guys at SC told me. I'm excited to try it out. Apparently I got one of the second batches of the Delta ECU's.

I have the SC kit on my MPI, wel it was an MPI :-)  My kit came with the Delta ECU, (Ihad some initial confusion as to the ECU type I setup in SXTune.) I have since added a wideband O2 sensor, and am letting it make adjustments to the mix, although I am still running a bit on the rich side. All in all, I am happy with the setup.

Hey MtyMous, what are you going to do with your header? Leave it plain? Jet Hot coating? VHT Spray paint? Header wrap?

I've been wrapping all the ones I work on, some folks say that it makes the headers wear out faster, or that it moves the heat down under the center of the car.....I haven't experienced either of those, and it sure takes the heat away in the engine compartment - no more scalded fingers when trying to set the mixture.....

I'm gonna have them ceramic coated inside and out. Not worried about looks. More about efficiency. The ceramic coating on my truck headers and the Viper's headers both are really holding up well. They definitely contain the heat well, and I don't have to worry about oil/debris saturation causing a potential fire trap at any time.

I'm not worried about the heat moving to the center of the car either. I have Lizard Skin ceramic coating on the whole belly of the car. Plus, what better place to have the heat moved to than directly in the air flow under the car and not trapped in the stagnant air of the engine compartment.

What kind of cost are we talking with the coating?  Maybe something I consider since mine is all apart.

I paid $250 a pair on the Long Tubes on the truck. Got a quote from a very reputable place tor $125 for the mini. Shouldn't be much different anywhere in the US from a reputable shop.

I have had a number of pieces done by Jet-Hot over the years. Prices seem to keep going up and shipping from California is now about $70.
I think I will try someone local for the manifolds on my son's El Camino...

I have a stock 92' 1275 Rover with a factory SPi fuel injection system. I love it and could not imagine owning one with a carburetor again.

MiniDave

Yeah, a friend here in town has a 94SPi, you gotta love FI....as long as it works!

I have not had any trouble with the SPI. It has only been 8 months since I imported it from Japan, but I love the little car. The auto gearbox took a crap on me. That is what is getting fixed now. Don't you love Classic cars! (Even modern Classics like my 92')

He said normal cost would have been $175 plus tax, but he gave me a break, $140 including tax so $125.....did a nice job too. He used the higher temp ceramic - 2000*. if you go to Jet Jot's pricing scheme, their 700* is about 1/2 the cost of their 1500* ceramic coating.

Luckily you can still buy parts for those auto trans, and they're not complicated. Getting it out of the car is a royal biotch tho, since you have to pull the motor and trans, then split them apart.

At least with the SPI, you can convert it to carb if/when the sensors finally start failing.  Most of the sensors are now NLA (No Longer Available).

The MPI engines are more difficult to convert as they do not have any form of distributor - they used a coil pack driven by the ECU and a crank sensor.

It is a lot more trouble than I understood when I bought the car. You can get the parts fan an auto gearbox from JPAT across the pond, but finding someone familiar with rebuilding them was a challenge.

The auto gearbox was the compromise I made with my wife when I negotiated buying a Classic Mini in the first place.

And of course air-conditioning, I do live in Florida.

I loved my MPI.  Should have never sold it.   I will agree getting an auto in and out is a pita.
