Xmas/New Years with the Boys

We got a little snow.......the boys were out romping while Rose tried to cut a pathway for them, which they mostly ignored!  ;D

Da Boiz are just over two now, their birthday was the last day of April, and other than the occasional hiccup, things have been going pretty well. They're still crazy boys/brothers and chase each other around like dervishes, Neo has no interest in chasing a ball - Remo is more than happy to chase and catch it - bringing it back is another matter!

Both seem to be pretty healthy, Rose has assumed dog walking responsibilities and I think the boys and her have both benefitted from the exercise.

They still like to bark vehemently at anything and anyone that has the temerity to walk by our house on the sidewalk or even drive by. The mailman is an especially lusty target for their noise, they start when he gets  out of his van at the top of the hill, and have comments as he walks all thru the neighborhood, then explode when he hits out porch!

Overall we're pretty happy with them, time to take them on another road trip soon so they'll remain happy in the car.

Remo's personality has really developed, he's the mayor of the dog park anytime he's there - never met a butt he wouldn't sniff or wag his tail at, Neo is still reserved and tho he will circle around the action, he prefers not to engage.....

Their weight has stabilized at 12 and 14 lbs, tho Neo feels heavier than that when you hoist him up!

Rose found some lighted collars  - Neo especially disappears in the night - now they're a couple of glowing cicles floating around the yard in the dark - but at least we know where they are!

The boys are doing great, they're about ready for another haircut, given it's the dead of summer they'll appreciate having the short cut. Neo likes to go out and lie in the sun, despite having that black coat on.....

Remo is still a very picky eater, sometimes he won't eat if his bowl is in the holder, but will if you put it on the floor he will.....he won't eat hamburger, but loves chicken. Neo doesn't care - is it food? He's eating it! Despite their differing eating habits they've kept their weight about the same, with Neo about 2 lbs heavier than Remo - it's hard to believe it when you pick them up as Neo just feels so much more solid and heavier than Remo, who feels like a featherweight compared to his brother.

It sure did! 

On a related note, my dog Cooper turns 9 years old tomorrow, May 1.   He's still a big goofy mutt and often acts like a large puppy, but this milestone reminds me that larger dogs typically only live into their early teens. Got to make sure to really enjoy the next X number of years with him.

You lucky owners of smaller dogs get more time with 'em.

3 years ago today, we brought the two boy pups home, the pics above are the day they came home with us.

Remo's color has really faded, he's all blond now although when I take his pic in bright sunlight he looks almost white. Neo on the other hand is slowly turning from black to grey - his father was grey with black along his spine, so we're not too surprised, and it's not unusual for poodle's coat to change as they age.

One of our two girls coat really lightened up, the other stayed pretty much the same.
