Ok so finally got this rear end grafted into place. You can see the difference in window sizes on the overlay and where the cuts need to be made to match it up.

I'll bet it's nice to work with clean sheet metal like this! This project is really coming along now.....won't be too much longer before its in primer?

#427
Primer is near.  I have a ton of welds to finish.  I have a few spots that need filler, but nothing crazy.  I'm waiting on  my bus heads to get back so I can button up the engine and get it out of the way too.  It's halfway into the paint booth and I either need to cover it with plastic or get it assembled so I can do my paint prep.

Also my HF air grinder tool to knock down spot welds died on me.  Need to go grab another one of those.

Is that one of the finger sanders? Cause they make an electric one too....

No it's a die grinder with attachment.  20k rpms.  Zings welds flush quick and way easier and less traumatic than the angle grinder.

Takes the high spots off quick.

What did you use?

How do you weld the vertical seams, did you put some holes in the other part so you can plug weld it?

What do you mean what did I use?

I have to drill out the holes for the plug welds along the seam still.
