I turned in my notice at work Wednesday to leave/retire. Last day is Nov. 27. Retire sounds wrong as I am only 57. Decided to leave as the way the company pension works I stand to lose 31K in value next year and who knows the year after. So I am leaving with a lump sum payout. So after 33 1/2 years it's time for something else. I don't see any need for full time work, just something to do and make a few bucks so it seems worthwhile. Guess I should spend a few months finishing up the house we just built, then some quality car/moke garage time. But I sure do feel good now that the exit door is in sight.  71.gif

Holy smokes, congrats.   I could use a hand on all my projects, just saying.   9.gif

That's awesome and daunting to me. I've got at least 19 to go before I hit my retirement. And then I'll probably grab a civilian job anyway. So who knows...

Congrats though. Enjoy it.

I have 31 years and two months before retirement.

With my luck, I will either be working until I fall over dead or end up living under a bridge.   :o

Congrats!  I am enjoying retirement a lot!  You get to decide what you want to do each and every day!  Nothing bad about that!

Hi Willie B,
It was nice to meet you in VA.
Take some time to do what you want. Things don't have to be done right away.
A way different timeline.
Congratulations!

I do not think I could retire. Props for you to be able to do so at such a young age. My grandfather retired in his late 50's too.

My house should be paid off (for the second time, long story) in about 7-8 years, then we are going into overdrive on the retirement savings. I am 47 years old.

Time for a fun hobbies!!

I vote car stuff!!

Paul Newman got into auto racing in his late 40's..... just sayin.....
