Wow, that sounds like fun! I take it you mean your red car, not the Moke?

They are a long ways back, I like to be able to stretch my right leg out when I drive. I removed the companion bin in the green car so I could move the seat way further back.

Both this set and the Subie seats seem to need to be down on the floor or it feels like my head is up against the roof. In addition, with the extra bars up along the roof I'll want a smidge more headroom for when I hit the bumps. I'll need to wrap pool noodles around the bars too.....

I put Miata seats in Buzz, and those sat extra low so I wound up putting spacers under them to get them up into place where it was comfortable.

This set of seats had brackets under the seat and that didn't really help with the location of the seat controls, I took them off for this pic. I figure  either I redo the door bar or leave it out and reinforce the sill

My mini is signed up to be used in a movie shoot in a couple of weeks. Started out to be a background car, then changed to be the main actors car. Small low budget film. The production company does not have insurance for the actors to drive the cars so I will be doing all the driving scenes dressed as the main actor. The movie is about college students that do "on the sly" intervention art installs in odd places. It seems that things never go as planned as it's a comedy. So I get to be a goth college student dressed in all black included a hoodie. The hoodie is always be up for doing things on the sly. That will be good to hide my grey hair. Time for new and different experiences. Even get paid to do it all. Not sure on the amount but will get at least $500 a day even just for background car.

Do the seats need to sit right on the floor? Seems kinda low. If they can be raised just a few inches that would help with the handle access. They look a long way back too.

Yes, that was my thought as well. Taking the door bar out allows the seats to fit just fine, but before I go that step I probably want to refit the door and see if there's room for a door pocket too. Or.....how to build a bar that allows both the seats and a door pocket. All the seats I have are pretty much the same width.....

With the door bar out I'll need to try the Subaru seat back in there, but my back is done for today!

Binky put an extra reinforcement bar in the outer sill, and as I haven't closed it off yet, I could do that too....and not run this door bar.

Could you reshape the door bars to let the seat base fit under them?

I don't think my Subie seats are going to fit - even on the "wrong side, this is the driver's seat - the door bar keeps it from sitting down flat on the floor. And of course I wouldn't be able to operate the handles for seat back angle or height. I guess the work around for that is either don't use the door bars and pre adjust the seat angle, or just don't use these seats. Even without the door bars it looks like the bolster would be right against the door jamb.

I have two other sets to try, but I may end up with Miata seats. That would be unfortunate as I really like these seats - they're comfortable and fit me well and the side bolsters and cloth covers mean you don't slide around at all.....

Test fit of the entire subframe and cage. Looks like it all fits where it's supposed to, there's some fettling to do to get it exactly where it will finally go but at least it all seems to line up OK.

Now to see what seats will fit in there.....
