So my mini has the ubiquitous chrome plastic windscreen lock strips. The ones from MS turn brown in short time, the ones from Classic Minis Japan appear to be lasting a little better, however the guy that rebuilt my engine has black strips on his MK3 and they look pretty good and they won't turn ugly in the sun.
So style opinions: chrome for some bling (and will perish) or black for the stealth murdered out look?

To me, it depends on the rest of the car's appearance.  Some schemes look better with the all-black and others need the contrast.

Then there are going to be the purists that think it should be exactly as it left the factory, which may have also been model specific.

What does the rest of your car look like?

I don't understand why they fade to brown so quickly....my car lives in the garage and mine didn't last a year before they were ugly.

I was going to try some of the Japanese ones next.....

I don't think any Mini would look "right" with the black ones.....but that's just me, I like the bling!

So this what the car looked like but I'm changing it up. No Union Jack on the roof, no stripes on the hood and no double side stripe.

I'm with you Dave why do they turn brown so quickly?

So I think I'll pick up some of the black strip and try it when I reinstall the windscreen, if I don't like it I have a brand new Japanese chrome one.

Remove the chrome strip and leave it off for a while before replacing it. Stand back and look at it for an idea of how the car will look in the end if you were to install black strips. Then you can decide before ordering new ones.

These are probably getting close to 5 years old. Though they don't see a lot of sun. Took this a week ago.

What he said.  Whichever way you decide, make the front and rear match.

That's a good idea....
