removing the torque converter

I fellow mini owner has an Inno (his current name on MM) and is have trouble getting the converter off. I have never worked on an auto before and have no idea how to help him. the original issue is that it would not shift into ANY gear. so his plan is to rebuild. he is in Nova Scotia Canada btw. Does Anybody have any tips I can give this fellow?

OK he managed to get the converter off. he is now just going to order parts to rebuild it.
