I did the 3 day fast last year after listening to Dana talk about it. Wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be.

My wife has been doing fasting for a few years now, and since she does most of the cooking I end up playing along when she does some times. It's really not as hard as people think, just have to find something else to distract you for the first 12-14hrs or so, once you get past that it seems to get easier.

I was listening to someone the other day (PHD level biologist of some sort) taking about dry fasting, I had never heard of it. They have done up to 7 days before no food, no water, no nothing. Mostly to prove the point that you don't actually die after "3 days of no water". They don't recommend it as something for everyone, need to be in somewhat good health to begin with, and also something you work up to if you do try it. They gave biological reasons as to why it could help with a lot of things people suffer from. She has had chronic pain issues for years from a boat accident that nearly killed her and the intermittent dry fasting has actually helped tremendously with that pain. It was interesting if nothing else.

It's really sad what they put in our food when you start looking at the labels.

Quote from: ADRay on September 22, 2024, 05:38:07 AMas I read this, I am pedaling away on a Peloton bike that wifey brought home in January. I've been able to squeeze in 20 minutes a day first thing in the morning. I used to commute daily as a student in Boston on a bmx bike, and I really missed the feeling after a good ride.

That and (trying to) not consume beer everyday, and the vegan or vegetarian meals that wifey makes during the week, I've managed to avoid my high end weight fluctuation this year (so far anyway).

Traditionally I would float between 175-185, (I'm 5'9 and kinda lean) usually the high end being mid summer and mid winter. when I'd hit 185, my clothes start feeling tight and uncomfortable and it's time to watch the intake.

Riding the Peloton has kept me at the low end of my weight, and my goal is to get to 165. also the cardio benefits are noticeable after 8 months too.

And it should be noted, I just get on the thing, put on a scenic 20 minute ride, no anudio, and read my news feed. I don't go in for any of the guided classes or any of that.

Nice!!!  My wife got us a tread back in 2020 just before the shitshow started - we now have all 3 but the tread gets used the most.

What's your Peloton screen name?  I'm 'Munney'...I'm an army of 1 in the hashtag I created - 'MINIMotorers' - join me!

Following this thread, could use a dose of health.  We've done the 'Whole 30' a few times - crazy what your body goes through when you cut out all the processed crap - literally feel hung over.

Our fellow mini brother Dean (Dooder the guy who makes the shirts) went on a weight loss mission a year or so ago and shaved off 75+ lbs.  He just eats meat and nothing else.  I think he's down another 10lbs since we all traveled up to SD to the mini meet together.  I've listened to a few others talk about an all meat diet and how well it's worked for them.

Gotta look into that - processed foods is the next thing I have my eye on to reduce. I'll find you on Peleton
