Mysteries at the Museum

Here are some of the things I saw at the British Motor Museum. 

The famous Twini Moke.   Complete with not only two engines, but with two gearshift levers too!   BMC just used a front subframe in the rear.

Never seen a "BMC" plate on a valve cover before...

It was actually cool to see a Mini this way - lots of insight as to how everything comes together.

Landies have an aluminum body.  So why not show it off?

Paddy Hopkirk's Monte Carlo winning car.

I never knew this car had a sort of rudimentary headlight washing system.  This must be one of the first - if not the first time such a system was used on a car.   It's not on the later works rally cars at the museum  - so either it didn't work well or it was outlawed.

I saw this Group 44 E-type Jag racing many times in the 1970s, driven by Bob Tullius.

One of the very first Minis touched by a tuner.  This Downton's fast 850.

Mini from South America.   The Fiberglass bodied Mini Cord from Venezuela – built in the 1990s.   They even moulded in the seams!   I remember talking to a guy in South Florida who was trying to import these.
