Tires for Racing / AX

I am pretty disappointed in my American Racer tires, one of them split along the mold seam after 3 AX events, if you look close on the American Racing Website they state all tires are sold As-Is. I had emailed them about my tire split before I saw that, they didn't even bother to reply to me. Which was off putting. 

I just purchased 2 more as we are coming into our AX season here in Florida. This might be my last season. Time is not something I have much of as a small business owner, its hard to justify spending 7+ hours at a venue to drive less than 10 minutes.*

Which makes those tires look even worse, I might have 60 minutes of drive time on them and one failed. Obviously it was defective but that in on me. (AS-IS)

I looked around on the Hoosier website and its stuck in the 80's they refer you to a regional distributor and mine only has a phone number no website. I looked on Tire Rack, they do not have any tires for me.

I looked into Goodyear and did not see my size.

So I have started this thread to see if anyone has lines of decent track tires we can refer back to it in the future.

The size I am running for AX is  18.0/6.0-10  I would like to stay close to that, I do not mind a little taller as I do feel the 18 is a tad bit short.

My street tires are 175/70R10 Which are 19.1" tall, I wouldn't mind that for AX or aggressive street at all.

On American Racing Website:

Tires are regularly inspected on return to us and any product showing a defect in workmanship or materials is replaced. Our inspectors are very skilled at differentiating between damage and defect. Returning a tire you have damaged and claiming it to be defective is a waste of our time and your money.

If a tire is separating along the casting line, I think it is defective, they think differently.


*I may skip next years season and instead plan a long weekend in NC and run the Tail of the Dragon for a weekend. I would LOVE to get the classic up on that road. I also know of a secret moonshine road in Tennessee near Cosby which is NE of Gatlinburg. It runs up into the Mountain and turns to dirt at the NC line. Because of that there is no traffic on that road and it is just like the dragon, lots of 2nd and 3rd gear corners through banks turns.  Really fun road. No worries about trucks on there or LEO, it is very rare to see another car on that road. I have footage from it somewhere on You Tube, I'll see if I can find it.
