Title: Thermostat Plate Temp Sender Adapter
Post by: tmsmini on December 21, 2022, 12:41:56 PM
I am going to post this, but I have no experience with it. It seems like a good alternative solution for EFI temp sensor needs.

It may use induction to transfer heat as I do not see any place for fluid transfer.

This is the adapter that a club member made for me many years ago.
He has since moved and lost the CAD files for it.

I may have Joel's contact info as I've spoken to him before......I'm curious also how it reads the temp accurately without a fluid port. Also, my understanding of how these work involves the water flowing past it, but I suppose just being immersed would work too.

Edit: nope, don't have his contact info, probably got it from Clancy tho - he knows ALL the Spridget guys!

Edit 2: his info is on the contact page on his website - I sent him a note

I guess it has to be immersion as the site lists this:
(Use a 3/8" NPT plug if not running a sensor)

You would need a different type of thermocouple or sensor

Joel wrote me back and says there def is a hole into the sensor, and he's tested it extensively and it's extremely accurate and follows the temp of the water exactly.

I went ahead and bought one to use on the engine stand engine.
I guess oil temps and coolant temps are relative to where the sensor is ad with an ECU can be adjusted.
Even a voltage gauge is relative to its position in the wiring scheme.

I am guessing I will have to modify it it for an 11 stud head like I did for the one I have now.

Or it may not work at all

Cool Radiator bracket! Hope there's enough meat to take that extra notch in it. Shame to have to grind on it  when it's so nicely finished already.....
