Hi everyone,
New to the forum/mini ownership and happy to be here.
Just picked up a 93 mini rover, 1275, SPI. Would like to change from a 2 clock to 3 clock gauges. Can I use separate Smith Gauges or do I have to purchase a used cluster Nippon Seiki speedo kit? Are there alternative/universal temp/water/oil gauges I can use? Appreciate the insight.
Welcome to the forum! If I understand what type of dash you have, is there even a spot for another gauge?
Welcome aboard. Glad you could make it. Brad
Just to make it clear. You now have the 2 gauge cluster in front of the driver. Do you want to change to the center oval binnacle 3 gauge cluster?
I'm going to custom make a dash out of wood (cut out the holes myself). I found a company out west https://speedhut.com/ that makes custom gauges. Would like to go with the triple gauge speedo, clock and separate tach (3 gauges total), then cut in a universal power port for USB connectors. At this point I'd like to keep the gauges in front of the steering wheel.

Whew, those are some spendy gauges, but good looking and easy to read....
I checked the triple gauge you linked and it has almost everything necessary.
It is a GPS speedometer, so no worries about that connection.
It comes with a new temperature sender, so also no worries there (replaces the existing sensor in the cylinder head).
The downloadable instructions give the steps necessary to calibrate the fuel gauge to your car's sender in the tank.
From there, it is a matter of comparing their wiring with the diagrams for your car to determine which lines to tap on the connector that plugs into the back of your current "two-clock" cluster.
Thank you everyone so much for taking the time to respond and providing further insight. I do realize they're a bit on the expensive side but if I'm spending $'s on Smith gauges, the upgrade tech/lighting of these aftermarket gauges make it worth it. Then again, this may be first mini but they're hard to not spoil/fall in love with, aka...stretch the wallet more than necessary.
"stretch the wallet more than necessary"
nah, that never happens...........
