Am replacing the battery in my home backup generator battery. It currently has a 550 CCA marine deep cycle battery. That seems odd to me - isn't a deep cycle battery designed to run a fairly constant low electrical draw for a long period of time? Wouldn't a starting type battery versus a deep cycle be better?
Is that the oem battery or a replacement? I think I would go with whatever the mfr of the genset recommends....but in general, I think they used a Marine cycle because it will go longer between charging and recover if it goes completely flat, where a regular battery won't. Once it goes dead it's done.
