One of the problems with living in the center of the country, it's a damn long haul to either of the yearly Mini meets. I'm going to try and make the next MMEMW tho.....

Will have to make it next time, although I really want to go up to this one, near my old stomping grounds, but the other commitments and family stuff has to postpone to next one, probably.  Have great fun, all!

I just noticed on a different forum that there is NO TRAILER PARKING at the host hotel and trailers shall all be parked at an adjacent mall parking lot.

Now I may not have the prettiest trailer around, but i can't buy one off the shelf to replace it, and I don't want it going walkies on me 800 miles from home.

I'm going to bring a few strong chains and padlocks with me; with the thinking of chaining a few trailers together with like-minded folks who don't want to be calling uhaul and renting a 1-way trailer on the Friday after the meet. If you're thinking the same, then maybe look to bring your own chains and locks.

I loop cables between my wheels with a lock.  At the shop I also have a big chain and huge lock wrapped around a post to make it just that harder to steal.   I had to have my trailer downtown a few weeks ago over night, and aside from have the wheels cabled, I left it hooked to my truck and backed up against a building till it was touching.  In a parking lot I would be looking for light poles to back against or chain to.

A battery powered angle grinder will cut thru any chain, lock or cable in just a few seconds.....I like the idea of backing the truck/trailer against a wall or concrete light standard.

I know it's reallt easy to move a lot of vehicles with slightly high ground clearance (like trucks) parked on level ground by crawling under and popping off the shifter cable on the trans or transfer case and shifting it to neutral! You don't even need an angle grinder, so definitely set your parking brake as well to make it just a little more difficult.

If someone wants our stuff, they're taking it, I just wanted to make sure everyone on here knew in advance and bought a chain or two with them, or alternate plan for security...

Great event! Hats off to the organizers, Lorine and Derick Karabec, for a very well planned and executed Mini Meet. Their second in five years. While the two of them are enthusiastic owners of multiple Minis, both classic and new, kudos must also go out to the many volunteers from their local club, Brits of the Hudson LTD. This event was quite unique, in that much of the behind the scenes as well as on-site support came from the members of this non-Mini exclusive British sports car club. To the countless others who chipped in when and where they were needed, thank you!
