You actually beat me to my own forum!  Took me all afternoon trying to figure out how to increase the upload limit for the gallery.

Thanks.  I played around with a few forum softwares and decided this had the nicest layout.  The backup and restore feature could have been easier, but everything else was easy to setup.

I agree! No trolls! We seriously need to stick together.

P.S. I have a question: What do the stars mean by each of our names? Do you get a black dot instead of a star if your bad?? :D

The stars are for when you get more post.  I think after you get 50 you get another star and upgrade to 998cc and so on.  I like the black dot idea though, lol.

Plus you'll notice a little minus symbol that allows you to minimize the general discuss and classified sections if you want.  So if people don't want to look at anything non mini related, they don't have to.  You can also minimize the header at the top of the page too.  I figured if I did it like that it would be the best of both worlds.  Those that dislike multiple sections and OT threads can have it their way, and those that want something a little more organized with a place to shoot the shit can have it their way.

OOOPS , I posted the Hello Topic, before I realized what this was! It's the way I always do things, backwards! Oh well. Good to see a new forum, I like the look of it, easy on the eyes. I am looking forward to mini topics, and will try to chime in when there are questions about things I can answer.

50 post gets you 998 and 100 gets you 1071 or something.  I think 500 was 1275.

1st Post.

Hey, I am Jim, an old friend of 94tourings from back in his RX7 days. We have always shared common interests like Mini's, MINI's, RX7's and Porsche 911's, land surveying and silver thongs. I have been fortunate enough to own a 05 MCS JCW with a full Spax suspension added and a 1980 Porsche 911 with a 1990 Engine swap churning out about 350HP.... in a 2400 lb car it was fun. I have had my 1987 RX7 for over 10 years now and it has a 1993 twin turbo motor in it making 400 to the wheels when I feel insane and 330 when I feel insane and want to keep my engine in one piece.

My last car on my "early life bucket list" that I have yet to obtain and play with is a Mini. I have come close to pulling the trigger on a few in the past but things never worked out right.

Dan and I just got back in touch after a while and he has been pestering me to grab one of his that he has and gave me this website he has started to look around.

I have not really looked around much but plan on it over the next few days. Maybe I will finally grab a Mini to play with.

Haha, you just had to mention thongs....bastard.

Was looking at some of the rx7 vids you have on your website and had to just walk away from the computer.  I want another 3rd gen so bad it kills me sometimes.
Title: Re: First Post
Post by: Jims5543 on June 23, 2009, 04:26:02 PM
Not to get into Rx7's too much on a Mini board but..... you may as well be tempted. :D

My dad purchased a 1993 RX7 a couple of years after I got my 87. He had a C5 Vette at the time ans was so impressed by how fast my RX7 was at the local AX and on the street he had to have one. It had a blown engine and he put a Mazda reman in it, then we had Pettit racing do some tricks. It puts 330 to the wheels as well with the stock twins and a Power FC. Fresh back paint and lots of TLC.

He is selling it for 12K he keeps asking me to buy it to keep it in the family. He is selling to buy a nicer boat.

Ddi you see those vids on the Ring?? They make me want to ship my car out and get over there....

I remember you telling me about your dads 7, and I think I even saw some pics of the thing.  12k seems like a good deal, at least it was a couple years ago when I knew the market for them better.

Yeah saw that video too.  All good stuff.

Welcome, Single. Glad you took my advice. You'll get more support over here with your type of project. MiniMania tends to be more focused on originality. There aren't too many guys on either site that can help with VTEC specific questions, but there are forums for that, too. But please start a build thread here so w can all watch the progress. You might help some others take the leap as well.

I think I'm finally about done with the MM forum, so thought I'd pop in here and see what's up. I'm just really tired of having to weed through all of the numskull posts about R56 that and JCW whatever, and how do you adjust your automatic radio presets, or which side does the gas go in on my "classic" 2010 Mini Cooper.

So here is Kreacher and "Alf.

Very happy to be HERE!

Hey, Restoration Mini got a nice call out on the most recent Mini auction on BaT.   See below.   Could bring some new members.
