New Year's Eve, 2024.....

Saying hello to the new year - I'm setting off Thursday morning from KC to Phoenix to see my granddaughter get married and have a quick weekend with some of my family members - my dad used to joke that the only time our family ever got together was at weddings and funerals - sad but true.

I'm hauling a LOAD of stuff from my house to my son's shop, car books, toy cars, all sorts of car paraphernalia......I also have some rather large and heavy stereo stuff that I haven't used since I moved to KC and he said he'd like to have it so it's going with me too. It was really high end stuff back in the day - Phase Linear 750 watt amp and pre-amp with the auto correlator tech, a bunch of Marantz stuff - tower speakers that are made out of real wood, not plywood with a veneer - a tuner, dual cassette, turntable, eq, and I still have all the documentation for each unit! What a score! No idea what he's going to do with it, I hope he uses it in his new house, maybe hooked up to a big TV for gaming and movies as well as just for music.

Good thing I have a wagon to drive!

Anyways, here's hoping we all have a wonderful 2025.

F1 starts in less than 100 days, I'm definitely looking forward to that! My wife got us a subscription to Netflix and I've been binge watching "Drive to Survive", the series that ignited the increase in F1 interest here in the states.....it's been a little predictable so far since I follow F1 anyway but it's also fairly compelling viewing, especially in retrospect of some of the events that have happened - driver swaps, new rookies coming in, technological changes and so on. On thing I don't miss is the focus on Gunter Steiner and his foul mouth - every other word out of his mouth starts with "F" or "MF"! It could be great for a drinking game, but no one would last more than 10 minutes!

Happy New Year, everyone in RM-land!    :cheer:

Mine too! I hope to be driving it by late summer, and then I get to tear it all down again and ship it off to Dan for paint....  :steeringwheel:

In one hand I hope you meet your deadline, on the other I hope you don't so I can take a break from painting lol.

I guess I could drive it all ugly for a while, in primer and old paint, but I would hate to put the windows in twice....

Car is all loaded, all I have to do is pack my clothes and such and I'll be on the road, hopefully by 7 am.

Big winter storm warning for this weekend, depending on which weather guessers you believe KC could get 10" of snow on Sunday. I may be stuck in Phoenix for a while......and wouldn't THAT just be too bad!

But to make sure swmbo and the boys stay warm in case of a power outage I drug the genset out of the shed and fired it up, fortunately it popped right off. I let it run for 20-30 min while I ran down to the gas station and filled her car and a 5 gal jug for the genny. I also set it up with my neighbor across the street to come over and hook the genset up and get it running if needed. The genny is sitting in the garage right by the back door, so all he has to do it roll it out, plug it in and fire her up.

Looking forward to hitting the road in the morning.

Have a safe road trip Dave.

I know I am ready to hit the road for somewhere soon. Wife and I have done most of the close by sightseeing and what is left is several long drive days away.

I made it safely to Phoenix, went to my son's and unloaded the car. Today my daughter and her clan and I are going to see the Penske mega dealership where he has a museum of many of his race cars from all the different series in which he's been involved.....should be some cool stuff to see.

Tomorrow is the wedding then I'm supposedto head home on Monday, BUT......there is a massive winter event happening in KC today and Sunday, which includes 10" of snow and up to a half inch of ice in areas south of the city - said area is right where I'll be driving on Tuesday. I don't know if they'll have it cleared out enough or not, of if I'll get stranded somewhere.

Suffice to say my travel plans are in flux.....
