Title: Thoughts on a 2025 Spring Texas Hill Country run?
Post by: MPlayle on September 07, 2024, 11:57:05 AM
I know there is the upcoming (short notice) "Classic Minis Texas" facebook group event this coming October, but I had been pondering a Restoration Mini group run for the spring of 2025.

I also know there is a CMU event the first week of April 2025 that some may be planning to attend.

A brief look at the calendar and possible dates might be March 17 - 21, or April 14 - 18?  The end of April or beginning of May might also be for consideration.

Any interest?

I'll probably be at the CMU event......I missed the last one due to timing and this time they're going to a location I haven't run before.

The CMU event is apparently Aril 2 - 6.  The dates I tossed out were in order to avoid conflict with the CMU event.

I'm always interested.  Just need the dates to bid off at work.

???

Did you by chance mean your April 2025 is all booked?

The current proposal is for something in mid-March or mid-April 2025.  We could go as late as early May if that is better?  (I was trying to avoid is getting into the early summer heat.)

Sorry, I meant I'll most probably be going to the CMU event, and since that's so far away, I doubt I can do two events so close together in time. I agree with going early to avoid the heat.

I will be at the CMU event early April. Like Dave I would not be able to do two events that close together. Fall would be better.

Well, here are the four considerations I am juggling in offering possible dates:
a) Spring Break for area schools (most seem to be March 10-14, some are March 17-21).
b) CMU event April 2-6
c) Easter weekend April 19-20
d) Weather: too early = still colder and more rain chances; too late = hotter.

For item a: Usually, we have tried to avoid overlapping with Spring Break to avoid crowds?

For item b: I prefer to not conflict with other major events, which generally includes being back-to-back.  Most folks usually want some "home" time between events.

For item c:I usually try to avoid major holidays.  In the past, people wanted to be home for Easter with family and church instead of traveling on that weekend.

For item d: Going too much into May usually means hotter temperature days and is getting close to college graduations & end of school considerations.

As alternative dates that give more time either side of the CMU event, Easter, and don't land on school issues:
1) March 3 - 7
2) April 28 - May 2
3) May 5 - 9

Or push to doing something next fall (say mid October 2025)?

Thoughts?

Octobers I am usually doing Octoberfest or for the past couple years also going to Hallet to camp at the racetrack.

It turns out a project I have in the works encountered some delays.  I need to see what the adjusted timetable will look like before proceeding with attempting to plan a drive get-together.
