It's like Fred Flintstone invented a race series!
Racecars look to be made of wood with wooden wheels too. And no brakes. One and two-man vehicles competing on a long course downhill via the wonder of gravity.
I love it!
And I might as well post the 2019 race too.
Wooden wheels for that authentic Chatter and banded tires for no real grip!
Super cool = Pinewood derby on steroids + little rules..
Mass and Aero probably help alot!
It looks like they are set up to be able to squirt some lubricant on the axles as well.
It looks like they have a way to drive them forward mechanically too - the one fellow pushing and pulling his steering wheel and others pulling some sort of jacking handle....
I don't think the steering wheel is being pulled back-and-forth, I think the driver is just rocking his body to try and gain momentum. Since he has a helmet mounted camera it skews perspective and looks like other things are moving. But I could be wrong. Definitely agree about the passenger with some sort of ratchet thing adding power.
I wonder if there is a website for the rules and construction specs to find out?

Probably something like the old railroad speeder carts that were hand propelled.

Apparently not many rules other than powered only by gravity. Kinda like pinewood cars. Red Bull apparently sponsors or supports a so called "Red Buul Cart races around the world. Does look like fun. one site gave tips on how to build a competetive cart.
With no F1 race today, I thought you might enjoy some crazy downhill races from 2015.
No wooden cars and wheels this time. But the wheels look like they are off of baby strollers!! Some of the wheels look like pulleys.
Note how they countersteer to set up a sideways drift for braking purposes. Almost looks like a rally move.
Looks like they hitting some serious speed too!
Oh, better turn the sound off on this video.
