Title: Front facing child seat?
Post by: Flyinace2000 on July 06, 2018, 12:31:29 PM
My daughter is outgrowing the rear facing seat in my classic.  I want to swing her around to be front facing, but obviously there is not mount point for the forward tip strap.  Any ideas besides learning to weld?

Does your car have headrests?

Or are you planning to mount it in the rear seat?

I've got two mounted in the rear of my Mini.  I bought two aftermarket tether anchors, and installed them as close to the rear screen as possible.  There were actually a couple of holes already in the metal strip under the rear parcel shelf, in-line with the center of the rear seats.  I just drilled them up through the parcel shelf and installed the anchors.  You could always add a thicker piece of steel under the parcel shelf for more strength.  I figured there where at least two pieces of shaped steel coming together at that point which would be quite strong.  Also be sure to use larger washers.
