Title: Grand Tour, Season 2
Post by: BruceK on January 10, 2018, 03:38:09 PM
Seems the Grand Tour has returned with Season 2, and without a lot of hoopla.

Amazon has been relasing one episode a week for the past month or so.   I've been watching it.  Has anyone else?     They've dropped the awful American Driver segments and they have stopped killing celebrities.

It's sort of grown into the old Top Gear without being 100% exactly like the old Top Gear to avoid being sued.  The tent studio no longer travels the globe - it's firmly in England this season.   They have a special test driver to do lap times, but they never mention her by name.   And now there is a sort of rallycross track where they let 2 (semi-)celebrities race each other in a 4 cylinder Jag F-type.

It's interesting, but no longer must-watch TV, IMO.

Don's going to hook me up with his Amazon Prime connection so I can watch them, but I'm not expecting a lot.......

Guess since I order off prime a decent amount I got notifications popping up on my internet browser.  I've been enjoying it, was mainly interested in Hamsters crash.

SPOILER  Then to find out he did it after he crossed the line was hilariously odd.  He also blows up the new McLaren after putting water in it that some one had stored in a jerry can at the track.  2 cars tested 2 cars destroyed.  SPOILER

Loved the end of the why we pre scout and set up the large travel episodes.

So, I've watched the first three episodes now and I have to agree with Bruce's assessment.....more of the same old.

It was interesting to see why the Hamster wrecked the Rimac (he didn't slow down when he crossed the finish line - missed it some how) and watching him negotiate travel with James May once he was back on his feet (foot) again.

The Chiron sure sounded good but has finally entered the realm of ridiculous - price wise.....

And I'm really tired of Clarkson's loud mouth.....tho I liked James May's new haircut!  :-)

The last episode is finally some good old top gear shenanigans.

Just watched 4, 5 and 6 and it was SO Top Gear of old......

Edit: Binge watched all the way up to Episode 10 - the longer the series went the more TG it became - the Bond boat was kinda fun tho!

Totally.  It was the best of the season.  I loved that brand new £800 motorcycle from a supermarket!  It just can't be killed.

Yeah, I thought it was a total snooze, a 15 min segment that went on for over an hour.
