Title: Steering column shims
Post by: stan360 on June 19, 2016, 09:40:53 PM
I thought I had read  somewhere on these shims in between steering column and dash, but cannot remember what or where. 2 washers on one side and a bent yellow piece with some of the grey putty stuffed in between it and the dash rail..... Now I am not going to use the stock spacer piece on the column , but a lowering spacer piece  ....what the hell do I need to know about the spacers again ?   :-[

I hate them and am always confused when I have that yellow thing in my hand, so I throw it in the trash.

Wow, I have never seen those parts before on any Mini I've been in or worked on!

under the shear bolts, probably from the factory?!?  I wish I could remember where I read about this.......... Dan's car didn't fall apart without it, so I won't worry about it.

I do away with the dumb sheer bolt too.  That column assembly they had going on could be frustrating taking it apart and back together.
