what should this wire be connected to?

To the vacuum unit on the dizzy.... photo attached of my 998 before teardown....its a bit messy , but the hose was just draped over the valve cover here.  There may be  a better way to route it I suppose.

As Stan stated that's a vacuum line from carb to dizzy.

Yup. That's the vacuum line. I'd buy a new line and route it somewhere that's out of the way and away from moving or hot components. Keep it short though.

Should run a whole lot better. haha

thanks everyone.

the car has had weird issues lately, mostly starting & idling issues. hopefully this is something that will help that once I replace it.

got it all buttoned up with a new line & fittings - so far so good
