I bought my Odyssey battery at the Batteries+ store. Pro tip: when it gets within a month or two of the guaranteed free replacement date, take it back and get a new one for free. They don't ask whether it's good or bad, they just hand you a new one.

The Lounge / Freon costs
Last post by MiniDave - April 15, 2024, 03:37:10 PM
for the house, not the car......

We've started having temps in the mid to high 80's here, along with commensurate high humidity, so I decided to kick on the A/C. I'm not a novice at how A/C works so the first thing I do is clean the outside coil and check the A coil for obstructions, rust or evidence of leaks. I had just changed the filter recently so all systems were "go".

I hit the switch and it immediately came on, ran for 5 minutes and shut off again. In about 5 minutes it kicked on again, ran fine - made nice cool air and shut off again after 5 minutes. The third time it came on and ran fine from then on. The house cooled down nicely and after a while it shut off. It continued to cycle normally for the next couple of days.

My neighbor across the street's son has his HVAC license and he stopped by to see his dad today so I asked him to pop over and tell me what he thinks.....we both decided the short cycling is probably due to being a little low on freon. Last time I had to add any was more than 10 years ago so I wasn't surprised....what did surprise me was he said R22 now costs $250 lb, his cost!!!!

I did a little looking online and saw prices from low $20's to mid $30's per pound.

I don't know where he got his number, but I think I'll call someone else just to see.

Quote from: MiniDave on April 12, 2024, 12:27:04 PMI wouldn't be surprised to see Carlos sign with Mercedes now that Alonso has re-signed with Aston - it's really the only top-ish team  he can go to right away, but I also wouldn't be surprised to find it's a short term contract, with their Kimi Antonelli waiting in the wings and Wolff wanting to get him behind the wheel of an F1 car ASAP.

Carlos in a 2 year contract, Kimi goes to Williams and replaces Carlos at Mercedes in 26 as he goes to Audi?

I don't think anyone wants to go to Alpine, so those two guys are pretty much stuck if they want to stay on the grid. I had Yuki going to replace Baby Stroller, but I'm just not sure Daddy Bigbux would let that happen, no matter how poorly he does. Made sense to put Yuki in a more high profile Honda team, and I believe Aston (at least in Alonso's hands) will continue to improve - it may wind up dragging Stroll Jr. up the order too, who knows?

I think Perez will get another 1 year contract at Red Bull as long as he drives as well as he has been this year.....so I doubt either Yuki or DannyRickyBobby will be going there next year. So where does that leave both of those guys? Right where they are, except if Danny doesn't really get going, Liam will be replacing him for sure. Danny could be "retired" again.....and this time it will be permanent.

Agree with everything you said.  There are still 12 seats available, so a lot of dancing until the music stops.

I was overwhelmed!

The place was newly opened and absolutely crammed with people dying to spend their money in there. Don tried the BBQ sandwich and pronounced it "cafeteria" quality. I didn't get into the bathrooms to see how many stalls I could hit.

I did gas up (ethanol free!) but I had stuff to clean my own windshield, so I didn't look for the squeegee.

No question.......it was an "experience"!

Wait. You visited a Buc-ees and you didn't mention the gigantic clean restrooms? Or the barbecue station? Or the 75 linear feet of soda fountains?  :)

You do get some points for acknowledging the 100+ gas pumps though...  :)

I had no idea the pump prices changed throughout the day. The thing that frustrates me is there are no squeegees at the gas pumps to clean your windshield. I guess they want you to not waste that time on your windshield when you could be in the store buying merchandise!
