I went to a car show near where we are staying in the UK.   It was mixed - lots of various types of cars, but not too many Minis.  A lot of American stuff.

There was one Mini that was from October 1959, so one of the very first ones built.

A big surprise was seeing a US Postal Service Jeep.   There was a rat rod with a turbo Diesel engine.

Awesome !

What is that white corrugated "The Thing/Moke" looking beast?

30 minutes in a Mini is more therapeutic than 3 sessions at the shrink.

That's a Citroen Mehari...it has 2CV running gear and a plastic body - I've never seen one in white before.

What was the silver swoopy looking car, almost looks like a Ford badge on the back?

Also, what is the enormous white building behind the first few pics of the show?

Nice that they gave a car show for your visit!   ;D

Eastbourne, on the south coast.   Not too far from Worthing where John Cooper's garage used to be.   It's a typical Victorian-era English seaside town.  The buildings behind are old hotels.

The very funky look looking car with holes in the rear valance and an oval badge is a TVR.  I forget which model.

Here's one more of it.  The paint was wild!

The Leyland truck with the "For Sale" sign was interesting.  Could make a very interesting custom transporter for your Mini?

I was thinking that was a TVR.  Video game experience and the wild styling and paint.

This might be a way to make big money.  Import the first generation Mustang to the UK and sell them for many £s.  This one was for sale for £23K.  So over $31K!  :-\.   I think this would be perhaps a $10K to $13K car in the US.

Did anyone notice the other early Mustang had taillights with amber turn signals built in?

Just found out the same car show is on for a Second Day!

Crazy.  I don't think that ever happens in the US.  Today there were a bunch of Minis!   The gray pickup was pristine.

We didn't spend much time at the car show today because we had not planned for it.   On to the next place!

Right hand drive Chevy, wonder if they exported then or if it's an Aussie version?

The weather has been absolutely perfect this weekend - 70 degrees and sunny - and it is a 3-day holiday weekend (a bank holiday as they say here) and it seems like everyone who has a classic car is out driving them.    I saw a Lancia Stratos out in the country today! Plus tons of MGs and Triumphs and Morgans.  Plus these cars too.

Did you meet the "racist" with the pickup truck in the background?   ;D

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride! -Hunter S. Thompson

Did you get to hear the Stratos?

Unfortunately no.  I was doing 60 on a 2 lane road and it was approaching me at 60.  So just a glimpse.   Since they are so rare I'm thinking it must have been a replica - there was a UK company that made exact copies back about 20 years ago.

Ummm..  nope.   ;D.  But you are making me wonder if they ever show Dukes of Hazzard TV program again will they have to censor the name of the car and digitally tile out the roof?

And what about old World War II movies?  Will they need to bleep out any mention of the word Kraut?

By the way, yesterday was McLaren spotting day.   In about 60 miles of driving I spotted no less than seven of them out on the country roads.  No idea which ones.  Other than the F1 model, all of the road-going McLaren models look the same to me.  Only saw 3 Ferraris during the same time.  National pride?  Maybe.   Then again I was within 50 miles of McLaren headquarters so that probably figures into it.
