Title: Internal Hinge - Fixing broken studs
Post by: jedduh01 on September 10, 2014, 06:27:15 PM
Internal Hinge Doors-- Broken studs that go to the body to hold the door.

Describe the best method for stud replacement
They look welded into the backside of the hinge.

Can they be fixed without totally removing from the actual door?

or bang out- bang in new bolts- Tack weld in place?

Or is this a drilling operation?

Drill out old studs, weld in new studs.   It's not so bad but one of the many tedious task of putting a car back together.

Well - yep- it was that easy -

Cut off leftovers flush  Drill out 1/4 hole.

THe backside of the hinge isnt long enough for a suitable bolt to pass thru- so 1 inch / 1/4 Bolts - cut the heads off.

pass the cut head part of the now"stud thru"  spot a weld on the back - Pretty much just like factory!.

SUccess!
