Title: Oil Leak - Oil Pressure
Post by: Gizmorama on October 31, 2011, 01:53:25 PM
I certainly cannot complain about oil pressure with 80psi at start and 50psi at idle after a hour's running. But is this great and grand pressure doing anything to contribute to a mystery leak on the clutch side (not at the cotter pin of dispair, thankfully)
I used about 1/2 qt yesterday over about 100+ miles.

Possibly.  What breathers have you got in place?  Could be the pressure is causing extra to push out a clutch end breather?  (Or where there may need to be one?)

Also check the valve cover for a leak at the gasket or the grommet for the retaining nut.

Standard breather can on each end. Does not appear to be any rocker cover drip.
If, in fact, PSI also indicates crank case pressure, then I can gain HP and save leaks by lowering it a little via an adjustable Oil PSI gizmo.

I was going to mention adjusting the oil pressure spring thingy.
