Title: Sills for van
Post by: Spitz on February 15, 2018, 07:50:18 AM
Been a while since I've been on here, and I may have asked this before....I don't recall.

I need to fix sills on my 61 van.
I can't find sills for it anywhere!
Has anyone had experience/know if these can be recreated from flat steel?

Minispares has the mk1 style.  Part number ms49L and ms49R.  They also have the later style flutes for vans if for some reason you wanted those.

If you need the inner sill: MSP001VANL and MSP001VANR

Did the very early ones not have any flutes?

For that extra rust promotion!  I think I'd put vented on but if you're going for concourse period correct, that would be easy enough to make with a metal brake. Or buy flutes and take out the flutes.

I;m not going for concourse, but would like to keep any early differences I can.
When it warms up I'll have a closer look at what's needed..... still -30 here

Another part that needs fixing is the floor where it meets crossmember .  I want to retain the welded seat brackets....so don't want to replace the whole member.  I have a MkII crossmember and partial floor not rusted, so was thinking of just using the bottom inch.

Also front floors.....one side needs replacing but can't find the early pressing.

Luckily the load bed is perfect top and bottom.

Unfortunately the grille is pooched and proper reproductions aren't available....I'll probably go with a removable one.
