The rear glass also fit semi lousy. The rubber must have been thicker than what I've used in the past. I have 5 different rear windshields at the shop and all measure the same dimensionally so wasn't the glass.

I've had Daves car in the shop to respray the rest of the body to match the front end repairs made last year since it didn't match properly.  Ended up finding a little extra to repair while it's here.

Here's what you should do before finishing welds and painting the car....fit the door!  In Dave's case it was a perfect factory fit.  The A panel is heritage and seemed to match as you'd expect, but the flitch repair sections are knockoff.  There's always a little doubt as to how well they'll align things up so best to double check before the pain set's in after the job is done.

Daves car got it's face lift completed today.  Sure will look amazing once it's all put back together. Perfect for the spring!

Working on this last shell. Needs a whole lot of everything.  I was about to drag out the rotisserie, but found out I can roll it on it's side very easily to work.  Having genuine panels on this one has made what little bit I've done go pretty smoothly.  Still in the clamp, screw, and bolt phase before I do any welding.  I'll need to weld up the side test fitted before cutting out the other corner.

Yeah and it dawned on me the other day he's going rod change, so we ordered a new tunnel and associated cross member.  The front foot and half / two feet needed cut out regardless.

I guess it's been since April since I touched this car. After some life events lol, I'll have a lot more time at the shop to get things done. Starting in September I'll be a full time resident at the shop.  I have a condo remodel that was put on hold during this same time period that I'll end up paying someone to finish the last of the tile so I can get that place rented.  I am looking forward to getting back to metal work and away from tile work!

This week should have the front end and floors completed on this car.  The lower bulkhead kick panel was very fiddly! It's not something you can position wrong because then everything else doesn't match up.  After a ton of adjustments and screwing things temporarily into place, I got the left side to all come together really nicely.  Added a few tac welds and will finish welding once the right side is good to go.  Genuine panels are certainly something desirable in this type of repair. More pics to come.

Right side inner wing removed, new one bolted into position pre-welding,checked figments, and ready to weld!

All the bolt holes aligned on the first try.  Subframe fell right into place along with the front end panel to wings.  Woot  :13:

We went with a new full scuttle. Spent the bulk of the day ensuring everything fit and went together properly. After cinching everything together I went ahead and tacked the wings to the scuttle.  This allows me to spot weld the lip on the backside where the seam of the scuttle and the wing meets a hell of a lot easier than doing it installed on the car.  I used washers equally spaced while fiddling with gaps to make sure the bonnet gaps look good.  I think it might actually be better than my Innocenti that's factory!

I've been plugging away on this shell. Got the boot floor out. However, the rear panel now that the boot floor is out of the way exposed a series of pin and rust holes along the edge that meets the boot floor.  So now we're buying a new rear end panel to graft in from the windows down. There's some wavey dents along the one tail lights anyway and this fixes those too.

Looks like you'll be doing some patch repairs too?

Bottom line, he'll get a solid shell when it's done. Is he still going with chili red/white top?

No patches to speak of. Large sections at a time. I think the color combo is still chili red but need to verify before I order the paint. Getting close to paint though!

The boot floor and associated pieces went in today.  Tomorrow will finish spot welding in the valance and then begin removing a big chunk of the rear end so it's ready for it's new panel.

No it's sand from the sand blasters. There's still a ton of sand on the inside too. Stuff never stops pouring out.

Rear end removal.  This is a mk1 shell and the rear glass is 2 inches narrower than mk2+.  The replacement rear ends are mk1 light stamping but mk2 glass.  After measuring the other later shell out here determined where to cut.
