Well after much searching for a new synchronizer ring for my early 60 Austin seven A gear three sync trans I resorted to making one.
Dave D-M here on the board lives close to me and allowed me to use his lathe and mill.
I started with a piece of brass that a local machine shop had left over from a job and gave me.
I turned out the ID first started with a drill then cut to size.

Then on to the OD.

Next the taper was cut checked it to the receiving end with some blue dye I left it a bit oversize at that point for final cut after installing it to the gear.

Dave made me a mandrel to press the synchronizer on so we could put it in the indexer on the mill to cut the slots in it.

How it looks so far

Then it was pressed on the gear staked and a final clean up cut made to the taper the final cut was done in a four jaw chuck to ensure accuracy.
