it's become apparent that my toe board needs replacing. The passenger side subframe mounting point is 1/3 gone.
I'm going to bring it to the body shop to have the work done, as I have no space to do the work (and I want it done properly too).
As I understand the job, the front subframe will be removed. I'm going to take the opportunity to replace all of the rubber parts & hardware too.
My question is, aside from a new panel and the hardware for the six mounting points, am I missing anything that I need or should get for parts for the job?
thanks.
If it's rusted that badly there, I imagine you'll find more as you go along - just saying be prepared for a much bigger job than you anticipated, and good luck!
As for parts, I would wait till you have it all stripped down, I'm sure you'll find more that you'll need, no sense in ordering two or three times.....
thanks
the floor is actually only two years old, and I didn't do the greatest job attaching the front to the old toe board. so hopefully the only panel I'll need.
I recognize the duct tape. Nice choice. The toe board is quite expensive, so you may want to consider making your own. Its a fairly flat panel and the sub frame holes can be added by bolting the subframe back in and marking.
I decided that my welding skills were not up to snuff (since it didn't hold up the first time) and brought it to the local hot rod shop to get sorted out.
Did they cut anything out and reweld?
yes. he cut out and patched all of the rot and broken welds. He also replaced and reinforced the subframe mount. Did the same on the driver's side.
