I've been in Okinawa a lot this month.  I have to say it's one of my favorite places  to visit.  Even though this is "work" it's been more like a vacation.  Not that I'm a cheap bastard but the prices on things are very affordable here.  8 bucks an hour to drink and a 3 course meal consisting of steak, king crab, and a daiquiri was $48.  I don't want to go home to work

Not pictured, saw a couple classic minis and a vw bus. According to the other guys wrist machines that calculate mileage, we hiked around 22 miles. P.S the snake drink taste like spiced apples.

Finally got back to work on the Inno, installed the fuel gauge and sender and it still works!

I've also been methodically going back thru all the gauges, lights, switches etc to make sure they were all working, and so far so good. Time to put the dash back in and button it up once and for all.

So, did Max wrap up the 2024 Championships in China - 5th race of the year?

He finished 16 sec ahead of the field, he's only 15 pts ahead of his teammate but Red Bull is 45 pts ahead of Ferrari in P2....but at the rate their going can Ferrari catch them?

I don't think so unless something dramatic happens.....and I can't imagine what that would be other than the two
Red Bulls taking each other out.

Alonso had a record day, even tho his strategy wasn't the best. Once again his teammate lets the squad down, finishing last and wrecking two other cars and putting one of them (Ricciardo - of course) out of the race.

The Ferraris did what they could but they still finished well back of the front 3 in 4th and 5th. I don't know if this track just wasn't suited to them or what.......

Hamilton was pretty down about his car during most of the race but still managed to finish in the points.

Next up - Miami.

I have no idea who will feature there, other than Max of course.

Maintenance and Modifications / Re: Stuck Pot Joints

Whole joint both sides, just enough space. I did not do it, I had Nick at Boot to Bonnet do it.

So, did you actually cut the whole joint off or just managed to cut the circlip somehow?

A little surgery with a disc resolved the issue. I knew better than to use the circlip that came with them, but I could not find my clips, so I went ahead. If you can bend them easily by hand, they are not fit for the purpose.

Maintenance and Modifications / 4 Pot brakes and other issues
Last post by tmsmini - April 19, 2024, 07:50:02 AM
These brakes are going to kill me. I knew there could be issues with wheels fitting over them, but I went for them anyway...albeit used

Some of the parts that came with them needed replacing, bleed screws, bolts washers etc. So I ordered the correct parts after verifying with MiniSpares via email. The bleed screws were still incorrect and not the correct M10 version. Sorted that out with Simon at MS. Checked fitment with hubs off the car on a spare set of John Brown Wheels alloy Cooper replicas. Tested all four wheels torqued with both hubs and removed the ridge on the calipers as needed to fit all four wheels. I knew the weights would need to go on the outside, but not a problem for me, although they have not been balanced yet.

Get everything back together and the slightly older set of the same wheels is a very slightly different casting and won't fit without more "adjustment ".

Gotta love Minis and Mini suppliers

The Woody has mirrors on the wings, and they are basically useless!

Agree, it was due to the work that I needed this time that it needed topping up - not a leak.
