In DC where I work, when I have a month of early report times before the metro is running I pay for Uber.  I will use it 4 or 5 times a week at $5.88 a ride.  It adds up but it's that or walk 20 minutes at 430am, which ain't happening.  Starting November 1st Uber started charging a $4 airport surcharge.  Now I'm at $10 for a 1.38 mile 4.07 minute drive 15-18 times a month.  At that rate I might as well buy a car.  So I decided to walk across the street to the Marriott and discuss their van situation.  Turns out they would be more than happy to take me to work and I even get free coffee out of the deal.  Happy once again.

Like all good things, people get greedy and it all goes sour. It's just a matter of time until all that made Uber great will fade and they will just be a taxi service that doesn't own their people or cars.

Yeah it's a great service and the cars are clean and it's easy to use.  However, it's still only worth X amount.  $5-6 for a mile and a quarter is steep enough as is.  Downtown Tulsa I can walk everywhere too but sometimes I'm lazy or it's cold or hot or raining and I'd prefer to pay the 5 bucks to hitch a 7 block ride.  If it gets to be $10 to go a very easy walking distance, I'm walking.

How much would a cab ride be in comparison?

If there was not chance of dealing with rain and snow etc... a scooter might have been an option or even a bike.

Great score with the Marriott, I mean, after all, you are technically bringing them clients.   ;D
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride! -Hunter S. Thompson
