Title: Quick help needed
Post by: thebluepotato on April 30, 2016, 10:39:10 AM
About to move my mini shell off a steel roller and need to know the correct position for front and rear jack stands for the shell.  This is the shell, so I need to install the F/R subframes while she sits on the stands.

I do not want to damage the floor or areas around the floor pan, so believe I will need to use some wood.  Something like this:

Can someone suggest the right position and spots?

Can you not install the subbies with it on the dolly?  Otherwise a 2x4 spread across the width of the floor works just fine with no damage.  The strongest points are the ends of the floors where the seams come together if you're really concerned.

I'm with Dan here. I used my stand to hold the car and jacked the subframes into position. Let me really move the subframe around to get everything aligned, too. If you can only do one, do the rear though. haha. It's the biggest pain in the butt.

Otherwise, buy a 2x6 and run it across the whole floorboard.

I got it squared away fine...I used the smaller 2x4 pieces as I need to run fuel and brake lines and need those areas clear of the wood beam.
