Title: Do the 11275's come with steel liners from the factory?
Post by: Merlin on December 25, 2014, 08:30:59 PM
When I got this car, I was told that it was bored out to a 1310cc. When I pulled the head off during engine disassemble, I was trying to determine why I had so much oil blowby in the exhaust and checked the cyl dia. I found the cylinder to be perfect for a 1275cc and not a bored cylinder. Once fully disassembled I could see that there were steel liners in the cylinders. Do the A-series come with steel liners or were these put in afterwards? If these were put in because of over boring, can they be bored out?

Some came with liners I think it had something to do with porous casting of the block.
Yes they can be bored how much depends on the liner thickness. A 3/32" or 2.49 mm should be good for .030-.040 over. you can always bore it out completely and install a thicker liner if it has 1/16" liners now.
