Title: Rear Alignment and Adjustable Suspension
Post by: tmsmini on March 30, 2020, 08:10:09 AM
After I had our sportpack saloon aligned, there was -1.3 camber on the rear right. The adjustable bracket was at full. I believe it is a MiniSport bracket or a close knockoff. I am guessing the trailing arm is tweaked.

Does anyone know if the KAD brackets have a greater range of adjustment? I see that MiniSpares have changed the design of their camber/toe bracket.

With the pound/dollar rate, the KAD seems appealing at this point, over the top still though. I did send them an email asking about the range of adjustment.

Seems like one side on my rear end when I rebuilt it and using the spares style wouldn't go negative enough for me by a smidge. I took a dremel and made the travel to the desired amount, then locked it all down.  Negative 0.5 to 0.75 is about all you'll want on the rear.

Depending how much free time and desire to tinker with it yourself...I bought one of these to do mine.  I also do my own toe.

I am trying to figure out if a Dremel or a new set is the better option.
The MiniSport knockoffs I have appear to have less metal to grind on.

I always buy the Mini sports, which are a KAD knockoff but 1/3 the price, and I have had to make the holes longer to get the toe right on my cars in the past, but I prefer that design to the MiniSpares, I've used both.

Can second the mini sport version. Very easy.  The others I tried were from mini spares.  Way over complicated

I have the MiniSport version.
According to the KAD site:
"Each serration on the plate is worth 1/2 a degree of camber and toe is adjustable."
I wonder if this is true for the MiniSport version as well.

Without removing them I cannot tell how much I would have to grind.

The Joe's gauge would be handy, it seems. No problem getting it to attach to both front and rear hubs?

So the way I do it is I took the plates I use for measuring toe, and I have one with a steel plate bolted to the face. The gauge mounts by magnets. Then I position the plate on the wheel face centered up to the hub and take my measurements.
